Re: Velocity Amex -110,000 POINTS, return free flight,4 lounge passes, travel insuran

Well all those Big 4 banks has also been given away all these QFF points with no annual fee first year deal anyway. If you can get the points, why not? If you don't sign up, you miss out.

The real question is, has anyone get more than 10 * referral points? I would say smit0847 and burmans would be best candidates :D

If anyone has maxed out their referrals, can you please let everyone know to stop using your links to make sure the referral bonus gets allocated to someone.

I only got the 80,000 and hope the other 30,000 post in due course. I already hold another Amex, so probably won't chase the balance, just in case.

The other 30,000 has appeared in my account. Well done Amex for proactively posting these. :)

If anyone at all is interested in spreading the love around, here is another referral link:

Few things:
  • You'd think there'd be a nice big fat button on your account screen that says "Refer your friends - get rewarded!". Nope, had to find it in a menu first, then fill out a form (even though you are logged in!).
  • You can only share the link via social networks. Yes, you can recover the link without needing to share it (in one case, anyway), though you might be a bit stuffed if you aren't part of any of those social networks.
  • How Amex creates the tracking tokens and what not to trace referrals is fascinating. The links I got out, for example, have no CPID tag whereas others do, though I imagine this is immaterial. Also, if you "forget" your referral URL the first time, you can go back through the process to get it again, but the token ID will change.

Few more things:
- The 110k sign up bonus seems to show up in the statement when you spend >500$ (instead of 1000$, although I strongly advise you spend the 1000$ to avoid any possible trouble). It posts as bonus points for that particular transaction which crosses the 500$ threshold.
- Seems to work fine even if you've had previous Amex card, even one issued by Amex. No guarantees, but I think it's worth a try. The free domestic return flight and lounge passes already justifies the 349$ annual fee, so even if the 110k does not post, you still won't lose much.
- Yeah I also think the link mechanism is quite good and reliable (because it relies on the request parameters). Much better compared to the cookie-based method used by the cashback sites (which sometimes fail, silently). When following the link, it clearly states the amount of points you're going to get (should be 110k), so you'll notice straight away if something went wrong.

Hope you find these helpful. And of course, here's my link. Thanks! :)

I do find it odd that these two things occur simultaneously. They have a system advanced enough to allocate points to other peoples accounts, yet seem to not detect (or not care) that people are still getting points even when they have an existing card. Either someone in their IT system made a big mistake or it's actually intentional. I lean towards the latter.

And if anyone still needs a referral to get the 110k Velocity points, perhaps those of you who have an existing card and haven't yet signed up, my link is (and I'd be ever grateful - I think I may actually get my first flight at a level beyond Y+!):

I've been approved and I'm waiting for my card to arrive in the mail. I hope the 110k points will post once I make the spend. It's such a gamble having only had my DJ's Amex for 3 months now...

Good luck winning the AMEX lottery and please do let us know either way :)

Hubby applied (already has Platinum Edge card) . He heard nothing by email or SMS, but got a letter 5 days later saying he had been accepted, but his credit limit would factor in his PE card. Card arrived Friday. He hit his spend and the full 110k points have posted. Actually the points posted when he hit $800 spend....

Here a link if you have an Amex and fancy taking the risk...

Hi everyone - I've just applied for this card and used someone's referral link from here. Thank you very much.

If you would like to help me with earning referral points, it would be very much appreciated.

Here is the referral link.

My +1 signed up, got her card 2 days ago, spent $1045 yesterday, and the 110000 pts are in her Amex account today.....wonder if I can sneak the pts from her Velocity account across to mine without her noticing:)...I'm ineligible for this offer as I already have the Amex Plat reserve card :(
FWIW, here is the referral link: https://www316.americanexpress.com/...merHub&MGMURN=AAAABgQSFxseCw==&CPID=999999484

Based on the reports here, i have now signed up for this card myself and received the physical card today....now to work out what to spend the $1000 on.....(edit: pls don't suggest gift cards as I have so many that I might struggle to use them all before their expiry dates!!)

For others info and benefit, I have a Plat reserve card (about to be cancelled), and after spending just $600, the 110k popped up in my acct....so don't all rush out to put $1k on the card ASAP ;)...above link is still active:)

Good info, how long after you spent the money did the points go in?

My referral link (shortened) is here: https://goo.gl/WaKGfa although I'd suggest people go through the links of AFF'ers who have proven themselves more valuable contributors to the forum. I think this is the right place to leave it just in case though ;)

$550 spent on Fri (3 days ago), another $50 on Sat (2 days ago), and points posted today :)...I'll probably still look at spending the remaining $400 just in case..

Apologies if this has already been asked and answered - how long (generally) does it take for the points to be transferred over to Velocity? I see the bonus points have posted in the "View Points Summary" section but still a big fat zero under "Velocity Points Transferred".

Thought i would share the love with the wife after she used my referral link. As mentioned before we are planning a 10year wedding anniversary to Europe and looking to travel in style for once :)

feel free to use her link, and consider it an anniversary gift to us :P
