Help please - will the old original link work for the 80K points (plus 20k for me), work for the applicant?

Amex sent me a new link the other day for the referral. A friend just told me that they filled in an application last night on an old original link. Not sure what to advise them to do.

The 2 links are exactly the same if you copy and paste to txt and compare them. Should be fine.

Ok, good thinking - just told them to compare the 2 links. I did end up with a few links as I stuffed up the FB thingi.

Someone is still using my old link, just got points even though this offer long dead!

I got this card for the bonus 110k points but now use it as my card of choice. The earn on it is really good and most food places (not just restaurants but your corner cafe etc) give 3 points per dollar. Bonus points on Virgin spend and random bonus cash rebate offers. I was earning about 2k points per month on my other cards but get 4k-5k per month with this card.

I'll be hanging onto this one when I cancel a few others.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Is it time to apply for the 80,000 Qantas points offer and then get 20,000 referral bonuses from Amex?

I wish the Qantas offers had have been just slightly closer to VA. But the spending requirements are just too much. Meh.

Given the Platinum offer has been extended to may I'm going to have another crack at convincing the wife to get it using my referral link. Or, since I am about to close mine anyway, will maybe just reapply.

Convincing a wife.....pile her into a business class seat on a refurbished plane and I think your lady may just think ok I will go with the flow now.
My wife thinks I have too many credit cards so here we are in Los Angeles driving past Chase Bank branches.

In the case that anyone wants to be generous :)

Here is my referral link :)

"80,000 extra Velocity Points when you apply by 31 May 2016, are approved and spend $500 on your new Card in the first 3 months of Card Membership"

$500 is not a hard hurdle to hit, and the 80k in points is particularly good when you can convert points to Singapore airlines which frequently have deals like the one going on now with 30% off points required for some of their economy reward saver seats.

Just remember to use someone's link for the 80k, otherwise you'll only get 50k in points. And post your own link when you get your own card to get a referral too!

Just note that SQ adds so much fuel surcharge to their rewards that renders getting seats in economy a pointless endeavour (pun is indeed intended). Just saying...

If you redeem in VA points instead of SQ, you would pay more points but the fuel surcharge disappears.

Now whether you want to use that many VA points for such a redemption is another thing.

Someone in here is going to get 20k points credited to their account soon - thanks for the link! (I don't remember whose link I had clicked, so it will have to be a surprise)
