Thanks. I guess I'll see and if it appears to be problematic i will call.

Do you by any chance know what this might mean though?

It looks to me like I've lost points for some reason I don't yet understand.

That was your transfer date. You only had 614 points to transfer at that time.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure I look like a complete novice, because I am. But it's all new and I find myself enjoying learning as I go.

We were all novices once. That's why we are all on here to help others and to learn more for ourselves. Don't worry I have asked some real noob questions in my time!

This is why I love this forum :)

Just a little heads up for others - I successfully got this application done, made the spend and earned the points but the very first thing I did was set up the auto payment of the entire balance at the end of the billing cycle. A few days ago I noticed an email talking about an overdue min payment not being made and sure enough - the balance for the first billing cycle hadn't been paid. I called Amex and the customer service guys said that they could see the automatic debit request in their system but for some reason 'it hadn't been actioned yet'. I made a manual payment over the phone and requested all interest charges to be waived as it was their error/inefficiency and not mine.

So unless you love paying high interest rates I'd suggest that people double check their billing cycle dates and balances to prevent the same situation as what I had. Pribably back office functions swamped with a higher than expected workload so worth keeping an eye out for other omissions or mistakes.

Same thing happened to me as the DD doesn't take effect until around the 2nd month. I said, 'well how was I suppose to know that', and they cheerfully refunded the interest. Check the next month carefully too.

More than simply getting your interest refunded, isn't any and all instances of missing a payment noted on your credit history?

I realise this is veering off topic...

As we do not seem to have comprehensive credit reporting as yet I think the answer is that it is not noted on your credit history.

My Velocity points still haven't swept into my account. When they still hadn't after the 2nd statement, I rang them and they said that they had tried to send the points across but it got rejected because there was a difference in the name on the accounts. I couldn't understand why that was the case because my Velocity number was on my Amex card, so it should be linked. Anyway, they said that they'd fix it up, so I'm now waiting for the 3rd statement to see if my points will sweep across. My advice is that if your Velocity points haven't yet swept into your account after the 2nd statement, ring them up to find out why.

hopefully it's all fixed up now.
mine took a good 6-8 weeks before they were swept across & I got my minimum spend in very early.

My mum applied for the card and got it, but there is no velocity account number printed on the card and I'm sure I selected that she hasn't got a velocity account when I did her application. She doesn't know if she had one previously or not. I have emailed amex to see if they can find out for me, but in the mean time, is there a way to find out her number? I tried requesting the number via the velocity site, but the email and details aren't matching up so will have to wait for a reply from amex.

my boss was in the same situation, they were able to give him the V number over the phone straight away.

Just as a point of reference, mine were credited to AmEx account straight away after meeting the minimum spend, which happened just a few days before the monthly sweep. The points were already in my VA account by the time I received my first monthly statement from AmEx.

I wonder if the sweep to the Velocity program this month will attract the 15% bonus points being advertised by Velocity.

So bit of a silly question, but I'm thinking of cancelling my Velocity Platinum now to reduce the amount of credit limit I have (thinking of refinancing home loan for a better rate) that I applied for in June. My wife has one which I'll hang on to until at least her renewal is up. Is there any chance of them trying to take back bonus points earned from referral bonuses etc if a partial refund of the annual fee is given? I'm guessing that may not even be an option since I've redeemed my free flight already, but just thought I'd double check as I have a fair few sitting in my velocity account thanks to this card!

I've never heard of such a thing happening. The only catch as I understand it is that you should not be expecting to receive any part of the annual fee back.

I agree - I don;t think there is any chance of a refund of the annual fee.
