Re: Android App!

Anyone know how to get the App working on jail broken devices? XCon didn't work

there is now a beta out that works on IOS7 just not the X64 bit devices
github.com/n00neimp0rtant/xcon-issues
you can use iFile to install the .deb file

Re: Android App!

I have to say, the last three flights I have taken, I have been disappointed with the offerings on the app. I have ended up watching my own pre-loaded stuff, or more often, listening to my own music while playing Sudoku.

I felt the same but then picked a movie expecting to be disappointed. They actually turned out to be rather good.

I'm half way through "this is how we live now"

I rather like the range of films, it's just a shame that my usual flights are too short to watch in one sitting. Fortunately it's simple and fast to seek to where I left off - much better than most in-seat systems where you have to fast-forward and guess when to press play. The TV shows interest me less, though I like that some of the shows begin at S01E01 so I can at least try them from the beginning.

Two quibbles: doesn't work for me in Chrome, and in IE it doesn't prevent my laptop's screen from blanking during playback (obviously I can change my power settings, but ideally I shouldn't have to - maybe a Silverlight limitation?).

looks like we should get used to the wifi, as they are disabling the L2A from tomorrow

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

Flight length is definitely a limitation hence why I'm halfway through a movie.

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

I have NEVER been able to run the app on either iPhone or iPad; it crashes on launch :-(

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

I tried, many times, to run the app before or during the flight, all behaving exactly the same: app crashing on launch. Have tried removing and installing the app, and have tried it on both pristine and jail broken devices to no avail

You have to activate it while connected to the internet before you even get near an aircraft. It will not work before it's activated.

I am nowhere near an aircraft right now (in my office actually), and when I run the app, low and behold, it crashes on launch!

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

:( I'm not near a computer to double check the requirements. There is definitely an activation step. Maybe double check the requirements on the Virgin website.

Ha ha.......I didn't pick up on that before! It hasn't happened to me yet, but mostly I don't worry about watching it under three hours. The thing that has annoyed me is when they switch it off for take off.......it starts again from the beginning!

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

I did watch "The Way We Live Now" it was very good. buuuuutt... I'm pretty sure I saw that in J on QF MEL-PER in Dec. :D

Perhaps next time I'm on board I'll try another movie. I'm happy to wait until the return leg to finish it.

Well they need to keep it longer because it takes more than one flight to finish the movie. I'm finding difficulty knowing when I'll get the next aircraft with the wifi system.

I did watch inception on virgin. A good surprise as I wanted to see it but never got around to it.

Which iPhone and iOS version are you using? App seems to work fine on my iPhone 4S with iOS 5 - must upgrade to 7 though! Haven't actually used it on a flight yet - will do so in 3 weeks.

I thought most planes had been fitted wifi?

I have used (err, tried) it on iPad 2 and iPhone 5, under both iOS5 version 6.xx and 7.xx, all to the same effect.

that's very strange. i once had an experience where my iphone 4 just wouldn't open the app, no matter what i was / wasn't connected to, but i restarted the phone and left it alone for an hour, and then it all worked fine. has worked every other time on my iphone and my ipad 3, and i've observed many people using it on their ithing. something unique to your devices? could it be a memory issue? *randomly throwing out suggestions*...

I had this problem too, I think on my jailbroken device I had to install xconn and then it went away (or that might have been Tenplay video app)
