Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

They don't cater for dietary options with J class meals! We have a list of what the meals contain and most of the dishes will have gluten in them.

Oh, we're called CM's not CSM ;)
Are there at least snack options for coeliacs? I’ve treated a family member to an upgrade, but she’s coeliac and I’m now worried she’ll miss out.

A packet of chips? As our friendly insider has said, unfortunately there is no special catering, even in J.

Absolutely superb flight. CBR lounge empty and plentiful BBQ pork steamed buns on offer. PB strictly enforced. PDB bubbly and a wonderful CSM who once we were seated came over and introduced herself and stated that as J was full and we were the only 2 plats in J that she would take our meal order first (we were in 1A/C anyway) Meal options were the same as above and that I’ve probably had too many times (more on that later) Service was prompt, food was good and the spirits were replenished regularly. Smooth flight and arrived into ADL a touch early.
The CSM asked for any feedback on meals and I stated that the dishes were a bit repetitive for frequent flyers and she agreed and said it would be noted and passed on. Best of all our luggage not only arrived same day but we’re the first 2 bags off 👍

VA950 BNE-SYD and VA1092 SYD-LST on 23/4. Excellent service from crew on board with two Cabin Managers on first flight given one was transferring to the SYD-LST flight later that day.

PDB of sparkilng wine, water offered on both flights.

Meal options have been shown here before - burrito power bowl and chicken curry. Same options on both flights so we only had meal on first flight. I had the burrito bowl and really enjoyed it - the chipotle mayonnaise had a great flavour and went well with the vegetables and rice. Accompanied by a NZ pinot noir. My partner had the curry and enjoyed it as well. Refills offered although I didn’t partake as I had to collect hire car later that day.

For second flight we just had cups of tea and I asked for a choc chip cookie given options were the same and we weren’t really hungry.

I look forward to our return flights hoping that they are serving different options by then.

Had a excellent feed at the ADL lounge beforehand as I’m never sure of what I’m going to get served on the flight for breakfast and I’m quite fussy.
Breakfast options onboard were the Bircher muesli or the croissants with ham, cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Decided I would go the croissants and although the presentation wasn’t the best the food was very tasty. Accompanied by a yummy danish and a Mimosa it made for a decent meal.
PB was strictly enforced and PDB of juice or water offered. Attentive staff who offered refills aswell as coffee and biscuits. All in all a decent flight.

MEL lounge was quite busy but didn’t look like many food options although the Pasta dish looked ok.
Strangely hardly anyone in Priority screening lane which was good but still took a while to get to the gate. General boarding had commenced at the gate but as soon as I entered Priority lane I was waved through. Needed a drink to drown my sorrows after their football so the PDB bubbly hit the spot. Meal and drink order taken straight away and had wonderful staff for the whole trip. As soon as seatbelt sign went off the drinks came out and was shortly followed by the meal. Meal choices were the 3 cheese tart vegetarian option or the much loved Chicken Tangine. Once again the meal was excellent and had just the right amount of sauce to be soaked up by the rice. Very flavoursome dish and accompanied with cheese and crackers plus a vodka and lemonade. Drinks were refilled promptly so the glasses were never empty. Shortly before descent the pantry items were offered up consisting of chips, biscuits and other treats.
Was on one of the ex Silk Air birds and no dividers or rope but staff policed the J loo wonderfully and held back the riff raff who tried to charge to the front when disembarking. All up 2 excellents flights in the day and the second flight was enough to maintain Platinum for another year. Only 25 days to maintain this year which is a record and now 11 months with a stack of bookings up my sleeve to gift some Platinums or consider perhaps crediting to EY

Six am (local time) departure out of PER for MEL and had the choice of a hot meal or cold sandwiches. The hot meal option was a potato rosti with bacon and spinach (pictured) and it was fine, nothing special, a light breakfast. I believe cold sandwiches were something on Turkish bread. I noticed two other passengers who opted for them returned them mostly uneaten?!

My second flight was MEL - LST, 1.25 pm (AEST) departure and only a short flight at approximately 40 minutes. There were two salad options, no hot meals, I opted for the one with the chicken. I was mostly interested in the beer and crackers but the chicken salad was okay too.

2 flights today

VA 1321 HBA-MEL 1035 - two salad options offered one with chicken one without. We'd only just eaten breakfast so just had a cup of tea and a biscuit. PDB water or juice offered. Knowing I had the MEL-BNE flight later that day I didn't seek access to alcoholic beverages. I might have eaten had they offered something other than a salad eg breakfast quiche but was quite happy with a biscuit.

Called into lounge in MEL and noted lack of priority screening meaning we had to go through security again. Despite passing with no issues in Hobart I had to unpack our carry-on and have it scanned multiple times. Due to different gates for incoming and outgoing there was no option but to resubmit to security.

Lounge was a served buffet with various salad options and a thai chicken curry soup. None particularly appealed so I didn't partake.

VA329 MEL-BNE 1310 options were cajun chicken and brown rice salad with cauliflower (shown before here numerous times). I don't eat chicken so had the salad and enjoyed it with a pinot noir (they do serve a lot of chicken on VA). Service was excellent, refills offered, PDBs of sparkling wine, juice or water offered, J class rope divide enforced.
