Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Last Sunday, J PER to MEL:

BC Meal 150412.JPG

Pene with chorizo - not much chorizo, could have done with a bit more seasoning too. Went well with the salad and balsamic vinegarette, roll nicely warmed. I didn't fancy the ice-cream sandwich for pud, so settled back with a scotch and toblerone.

All in all, not bad. I've had better, I actually quite like the pene and meatballs. The big question of course; where was the soup?

This my offering yesterday, MEL-SYD, a breakfast service. It was delecious.

And this was the lunch service, OOL-MEL. It was ordinary. I love shpherds pie, but I didn't like this. The dessert was yum though.

Breakfast today on DJ905 SYD-BNE.
Biz cabin 6/8. Economy not a spare seat.

Was quite tasty, although the croissant are a bit average, methinks a hot bread roll would look better.

I'm looking at these photos of tiny portions of upmarket named stuff, even if I had the money, there is no way on earth I would pay so much more for this on a basic east coast inter capital flight.. It really is a wank thing isn't it ?
Not a dig at any airline, just a general observation, of something that appears to be poor value for money. J on a transcontinental ( especially red eye) or international, is obviously a totally different thing, but for a flight that would have a max 4@ mins with belt sign off, seriously???

Excuse the typos, this was sent from my iPhone using Fat fingers

I could never see the value of domestic J (and still struggle to with DJ!), but when purchased using miles (JASA/classic or an upgrade) they're not that expensive and make a nice change from being cheek by jowl with your neighbour.

At peak hours both DJ and QF flights are chokka, so J provides a bit of space to work and chill out. If you can afford it, then why not?

The problem is with DJ, the only real benefit is the seat (although the food listed above looks great, I've only ever flown at snack time (e.g. 5:30 pm to 8:30pm).

Wondering why I got two croissants and not one? Was this just at the FA's whim? Not complaining at all, just wondering.

Hi Justinf I have always gotten 2 croissants, but have been served them separately, the CS wanted to keep the second one warm LOL.

def no 2nd croissant offered to me (last set of photos).
as it was I was on a flexi fare and used the first of my plat upgrades, not actually paying the business fare.

(had been denied three times previously and of my next two bookings, both are on 737-700s grrr..)

crazy fog in brisbane this morning delayed syd-bne by 45min. we circled gold coast airport four times! must have been getting close to diverting on such a short sector.

Thats a bit mean of DJ was it a full cabin, my 2 croissants have been on an flexi plus upgrade and on a freeby (due to Rouge aircraft and my refusal to board) J class.

My big concern here is why that shepherds pie on page 11 looks for all the world like a kitchen sponge doused in meat sauce.... Shouldn't mashed potato look a little less rectangular?

Mine had a very different look when I encountered it.

I do apoligise it is not exactly the best photo of it. It didn't taste like Fake potato, it may have been but i believe this was catered out of Melbourne so it could be the Melbourne catering company??

SYD - CBR 1805 Dinner Service:
MELCBR1305.jpg

There was also an option of vegetable curry (latter not available but a vegetable pasta) This is a lamb something with cous cous. Was quite nice.

CBR - MEL 1305 Lunch service (didn't get a picture due to someone next to me) - Coq au vin and a lemon meringue tart (delicious).
MEL - CBR 0720 Breakfast service (no picture) - Croissant, fruit salad and warm frittata.

I actually think the lunch is better than dinner, due to the dessert factor. Lunch and arvo snacks have an amazing dessert, dinner has leaves.

Does anyone know out of the 777 Rego's, which have the "refreshed" seating?

Is it only the one with the new livery or is there others?
