Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Trip reports sounds pretty much correct unfortunately, but don't be shy about going up and asking for a drink yourself. I know you shouldn't have to, but still :)

This week is my 2nd last flight on VA in J, before I move back to QF for a mixture of Y and J flights

When I hear reports of improved meals/drinks/service/food/seat then I'll move back to VA

Sounds like a common story! Trouble is that someone needs to be flying J on VA to actually be there and report the service improvements if and when they happen.

To be honest the only thing that is really going to change is the food/drinks which is what this thread is about.

I have sent an email to VA and pretty much received the "thanks for your comments" reply and that's it, as a Platinum member I would have expected a little more effort to guage from me what the real issues are.

Yet another fabulous Virgin Australia / Luke Mangan creation - this one an entree antipasto plate with lashings of prosciutto. (Entrees are served before the main meal on longer domestic flights.)

Just did 3 J class sectors in the last week OOL MEL 737 800 snack was fine 50% full then flew SYD CNS E190 besides the seat J was fine CS ensured the J cabin curtin was across all flight pax in row 3 moved so she moved it back, stopped 4 people from using J toilet 50% full. Dinner Flight. CNS BNE 737 800 what surprised me the most 1650 depature and we got served dinner and ice cream cabin 50% full and only 2 hours. Again the CS ensured J class service was maintained. Overall my 3 trips were fine the service on the E190 was probably the most outstanding even though the seats are not. Prior to take off on the E190 the CS pulled out the the table in the spare seat and served our pre take off drinks on it, simple but a nice touch. One thing missing was the Tabblets as advertised in the inflight magazine all we got offfered was the digi players.

Was your SYD-CNS flight a 3 course service or just the standard affair?

Had that followed by the duck about 5 hours ago.

PER-MEL-CBR in J today. Brekky tuscan frittata with bacon was delicious. Arvo snack was vege rice paper rolls. Also very good. Love the mocktail.

Declined the digiplayer as the movies at the moment look rubbish.

Great service. I flew QF J over to PER and DJ wins this one, mainly because the QF seats on 73H have terrible seat pitch, and the one cabin movie was terrible.

Has anyone seen anything on the J Class service/meals on flights to DPS from SYD/MEL? I'd assume that it would be on par with Coast to Coast minus the A330! I have to head to Jakarta for work in a couple of weeks and I'm contemplaing routing through DPS for a few SC's... plus a weekend in Bali on the way home might be ok too!

A couple more photos

The Bacon Fritata (SYD-BNE 7.30am) - awesome...

Ham and cheese croissant (BNE-SYD 10am) - less good.
Made worse by inconsistent service in a cabin with 3pppl. Dish served then csm went back behind the curtain and was reading a paper. No offering of additional drinks etc.

I must also say that DJ is as cheap as QF on op-ups.
This morning SYD-BNE - packed plane, I counted a single spare middle seat in Y. 3 spare seats in J.
Only seemed to be 4 people near the front of Y who had Flexis (from the people who got breakfast packs - a cold bacon and egg wrap that was actually ok), at least me and the person next to me were Plats but no op ups.

Anyone know what meal I can expect on my flight tonight? PER-SYD on the C2C in J, departing at midnight.

Heh, yeah I was changing it just as you were typing your response ;)

PER-SYD is what I meant to say!

:p

Flew that a few months ago, was offered a soup to start with (but asked for a pie instead as I was starving!).

Not sure what happened for the next 3 hours as I was asleep but woke up 40mins prior to landing and had a light breakfast with fruit, yoghurt and bread.

Thanks for that, was hoping it would be breaky as I'm planning to go straight to sleep after boarding. Now what to do to kill the next 6 hours.. :(

Where are you? I can recommend some awesome bars in Perth.

I'm in the lounge at the airport currently. Thought about heading into town but it means having to fork out for cab fares, and lugging around bags so I'll just hang around here I think. Thanks though!

6 hours in Perth Airport? You're keen!
