The CS onboard was fantastic and is a credit to DJ (yes, feedback is being sent!). She worked hard, pre-empted needs and was genuine, warm and friendly. There was a decent load in Business, with almost all seats taken. Unfortunately the flight wasn't part of the Samsung Galaxy trial, but did receive the DigiPlayer (not that I used it much). Overall an excellent first domestic J class flight with Virgin and I am pleased that there was no nasty, last minute aircraft substitution.

I did a J class earlier this year, and have another one coming up. My only concern is that they haven't worked out Gluten Free as yet.

oh! good idea. I don't like the mocktail as-is, too sweet and watery. A bit of a pep-up is what it needs :)

Just flew two J sectors over that past 3 days both lunch time and both the same travel time OOL MEL & MEL OOL.
OOL airport meet by a DJ staff memeber who is there for Premium Passenegrs as I was lined up Zowie came over to say hello and introduce her self and advise of the new role. She is employed by DJ and not Aero Care but works with them.
OOL MEL
was served a pre take off mocktail
was offered a digi player
was served the Thai Green Prawn curry
was offered a news paper even though it was a 12.05 flight and they stop at midday.
Cabin was only 12.5% full i.e. ME.

MEL OOL
no pre take off drink
no news paper despite the CS moving my bag as I had placed them on there and it was a 12.15pm depature.
no offer of digi player
CS only became interested when the pax sitting next to me in 1C entered the cabin she was pretty had short shorts on and high heels and long legs.
Then proceed to use the word **** several times as the young lady next to me owns a plumbing business with the family. Swearing doesnt bother me but I think it inapproporiate to use when you are a CS and it is loud enough enough for the entire J cabin to hear.
meal was the Morocan Lamb.
Cabin 100% full.

What annoys me is the fact that I had no issues with meals the service is not consistant.

Nice, what time was this flight? was supposed to be in J on Friday as well, SYD-BNE as well but my 2pm was cancelled and I got switched to a QF J flight. Communication about about the cancellation was very poor, well at least in the lounge as there was none and I missed the ceremony part of my brothers wedding! there was no Virgin 3pm but I would have been able to try and get a 3.05pm or 3.35pm QF if told what was going on. New Virgin J cabin is loads nicer than QF 737-800 equivalent. Forgetting the QF footrest and seat back pockets etc, the QF product was very tired and in my opinion the Virgin product is far superior in that regards. QF service was pretty polished on board and well done so Virgin needs to improve on that from my experiences.

Mickeyc747, I suggest you send that exact post in it's entirety, along with flight numbers, dates etc to Virgin as feed back. It pretty much tells the story of two airlines nicely. As stated DJ need to understand who they want to be and that second cabin CS probably needs a warning, retraining, supervision and reappraisal before being allowed to be a CS. The first CS needs complementing for doing his/her job well.

BTW, how did Zowie know who you were in the terminal??

Hi, does anyone know if I will still get Velocity Status credits after being switched from Virgin to QF?

If Virgin transferred you to Qantas then you will still get Status Credits, presuming you are not a Velcoity Redemption.

Great, thanks. I booked flexi's and upgraded to J, so will wait a little longer to see if I get the SC. Already got return trip SC.

11.55 MEL-NTL Morning Snack
Offered newspaper and pre-departure juice.
Digi-players offered immediately seat belt sign went off.
Snack:

Wine poured from the bottle into my glass :Jacob's Creek Reserve 2010 Chardonnay
Re-fills offered
Service was polished and as I would expect for business class.
Let down by the catering, the croissant was greasy, with fatty bacon ( CSM apologised as she served it). No dressing or yogurt for the fruit salad and wouldn't really rave about the wine selection.

PER-BNE (AM) Flight J Class

2 Pax in cabin

First J Class Travel with Virgin using free WP upgrade

CHECK-IN & LOUNGE
* Lounge - very average in Perth - a number of powerpoints out of order, water tap out of order, very basic food on offer – quite depressing really. One positive is that it was almost empty (-).
* Lone lounge attendant – indifferent (-)
* Priority Check in- worked well – one area they have really mastered (+)

WELCOME
* Welcomed as Mr Esquire. Although nearly everyone else was called by their first name.
* Offered water or juice – including sparkling water (+)
* Seat comfortable (+)
* Lack of in-seat IFE a real negative for me. Tried digiplayer– too difficult and promotes a really poor posture to watch anything on. (-)
* Following general announcements ” A Special Welcome to our 2 passengers sitting in business”. Don’t know if I agree with this (-)

FOOD
* Lunch was a carrot soup (+) and “lamb” – which ended up being lamb meatballs in a pasta bake. Taste (+) appearance (-). No salad, just all carbs. Would it be business class standard – questionable – not sure of the ‘fake’ parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Chocolate tart on plate (-) – was a heart attack waiting to happen and seems to be a few days old.
* Constant reminder over the PA that there are still hot pies available! (-)
* Drinks service was non-existent. Had to ask for a drink! Offered soft drinks, juice or more water. No mention or offer of wine or tea or coffee etc. Assume they had these but clearly they hope no-one asks! (-)
* Just 30 minutes before landing – the famous ice-cream sandwich arrived – but it was almost completed melted – and sitting in a puddle! “Sorry it’s a bit soft but it still tastes great” (-).

SERVICE
* No visit during the remaining 3 hours for drinks. Had to press call button on two occasions to get some water. Other passenger was getting frustrated as well. Would have thought if one pax was asking – would you not check with the other one as well? No. (-)
* Crew members promptly shut curtains at front (a long way down the bulkhead walls) and stayed there for most of the flight. The other J pax went to use the toilet and couldn’t get in until they assisted from the inside (and a comment from a row 3 passenger – “sorry mate you’ll have to use the pleb toilet”). I guess this is one way to police usage! (-)

* Had to listen to the crew talking about their boyfriends for the last half an hour (with a few details I probably didn’t need to know!) and the crew using the front bathroom for almost all of that time. Maybe they need to let crew sit in row 1 sometimes so they know what volume not to speak at! (-)
* Upon exit – nothing really – just a thanks for flying today

Personally I would rate the service on this flight lower than JQ *Class. The staff were not rude or anything like that - they were friendly, and trying hard at times, but I just don't think they have been trained sufficently in J cabin service.

Not a good start to the J experience with VA. Still have 3 more upgrades to use over the next 2 months so hopefully this was not one of the better crews!

I agree - nothing to boast about having 2 J class PAX - even though was a public holiday in Qld, pretty poor load factor.

I have seen this as well! I thought it was just me!

Ooh - thats a little rough! But everyone is allowed their own opinion! ;)
