VA331 MEL/BNE 8 Nov

I was in 2D, but when I checked in at ADL Lounge, I was told I had been moved to 2F as they had a pax needing wheelchair access to be seated at aisle. I had no trouble with that, but the CSA asked if 2A would be better for me - okay, book it Danno.

The negative with that seat allocation was that I was last to be served (options were salmon with potato salad or cheese plate) and everybody else that was ordering had chosen the salmon. Fortunately the lady next to me decided to change to the cheese plate - profuse thanks proffered.

Cheese:

How did you get dessert and cheese (or were you travelling with someone?) I've asked twice and they say one or the other (even though the menu reads like you can have both).

If there's around 10 people in J you would get away with dessert and the cheese platter. Over my previous flights I find chatting to the crew helps too, being friendly and interacting with them works wonders.

Really, they actually said it's one or the other :?: Sounds like a scene from Oliver :!:

Though IME VA are super stingy (or incompetent) with loading enough food options in J.

This. I have been offered 2 main courses when J was fairly empty before.

"is there anything else I can get for you mr drewbles?"
'well, if there's any desert left at the end, i'd love one but only if there's one spare if not this is just fine thank you so much!'

And, of course, be super friendly and flirty throughout the whole flight. I know that's how penegal works ;)

Not necessarily. I've been on a trans con on the A330 in J with 2 pax total. I was in 1G, and someone else in 1K. They took 1K's order first. I then asked for the cheese and was told "sorry mr drewbles they only loaded one cheese! I can advise the other guest that there were none and you can have it if you like?"

I was rather taken aback, and just had the desert. It really does depend on what's loaded.

This flight there were only 4 empty seats. Yes, empty. It was a pretty full flight. There were several deserts left over.

I had exactly the same on the way back last time drewbles. The dessert tho was a bit disappointing, it lacked any real flavour.
Didn't take any pictures.

On the way over, I had

- King Smoked salmon with green papaya salad and Thai dressing (quite yummy)
- Lamb cutlets with rosemary potatoes, dutch carrots , peas and mint (okay, potatoes a bit bland)
- Milk and white chocolate tart (not pictured)
