Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago BNE-MEL when I used a comp UG in the lounge

It wasn't until after the UG had been processed that I was told catering was not assured. Sure enough no meals by the time they got to me in 2D. Unfortunately the Y menu offering is pretty poor now.

Left feedback on the Virgin web page and got what I thought was a satisfactory outcome.
Yesterday's snack flight at 1.55pm, which I always thought was a lunch flight, the snack was meagre so I asked for some nuts and cheese-crackers and was offered it spread out on a plate, presumably from the Y menu.

Coast to Coast eastbound menu as at today 7Mar, photos to come

The next flight from SYD - CNS on huge E - jet I got mushroom ravioli with a bread roll and salad as sides. CSM Evan stated it was his first time making it since the menu was introduced. Wasn't too bad, a bit too citrus like though. As only 1 veg meal was loaded SWMBO was happy to get a Veg pie from the Y menu

I didn't get one of the entree but it was a delicious pumpkin coconut soup

Main, shepherds pie a little deconstructed like. It tasted a lot better than what it looks!

I'm enjoying my va desserts these days. Choc cake with spiced plum and mascarpone, 'twas really good!

Had a great crew in the way of Davina, Courtney and Romy led by CSM Ben who personally introduced himself to all in the J cabin.

The girls were one step ahead of what we were thinking the entire service, certainly made up for the very average flight over!

Sorry but the VA 738 J seat comfort factor ..... our status ... or class of travel .......at the end of the day I'm just very gratefully all engaged in flying us around this wonder place can use their combined skills backed by decades of engineering knowledge to just get us from A to B safely so we can continue to share the love of family and friends......and allowing us to keep enjoying the good times....... Today all of all days is a good one for garbing firm hold of a bit of perspective.

MEL-BNE today at noon.
beef shanks with creamy mash and a nice polenta. Two bread rolls and rocy road.
g&t before takeoff and regular refills.
only one other pax in J.
was great. Kudos to Damien for the terrific service.

Mash and polenta on the same dish! Stodgy

CNS-SYD 5pm flight last week, 2 in J. Offered a mocktail on taking my seat. Then offered a vegetable curry or a beef short rib (sans rib) with minted broad beans and pumpkin mash. Decent offering. LM coated almonds a welcome (if meagre) dessert offering. Could have sworn they used to be macadamias?

Had a flight today SYD-MEL leaving at 12.00 pm which I thought would be lunch, but was "afternoon snack" which consisted of a slightly sad looking sausage roll and a strawberry sorbet. No other options were available.

Just like the Neil Perry Party Pies tastes like a normal party pie, the Luke Mangan Gourmet Sausage Roll tasted like a normal sausage roll.

Similar experience OOL-MEL last week. For all pax in row 2 the option was either sausage roll or an offer to plate up some sandwiches from the economy cart. After that was cleared away plated up cheese and biscuits from the buy on board menu were proactively given to everyone in business.

The sausage roll is tiny, too.

12:00pm is afternoon snack? More reason I'm not flying VA as much as I used to.

Tell me this VA... if 12:00pm is an afternoon snack.. where does lunch fit? As before 12:00pm would be a morning snack.. would it not?

Cafe lunch? :p

MEL-CBR
VA279 on 17 March
Flight departed over 30 mins late.
We were the only two J pax and were told there was only one cheese plate that we would have to share. The FA asked if we would also like a snack from economy - salsa and biscuits!
Pretty poor effort for a flight that departed after 17:30.

I wouldn't have minded a sausage roll ;).

I have to wonder how that happened. I mean, I know sometimes you run into limited catering and rushing the plane out.....

Got the sausage roll on a OOL-SYD flight this week. I asked the FA "is this some kind of joke?" When it come out and told her to put it back.
I'd love to see a sausage roll on the menu at salt or glass...
Honestly if I am paying 400 and something for a ticket, I expect more that what I would get at a footy game for $5.50
Have moved all of my J flights to Y indefinitely.

I read your post, then looked at your avatar (profile picture). I couldn't help but chuckle. :p

Surely your sausage roll at least came also with a side salad and/or a roll, and a cake? Actually, I'm surprised there was only one choice. I thought the other choice would be a more substantial salad (e.g. pumpkin and feta), or a cheese plate.

Any pictures? VA IME usually offer alternatives..
