Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

This. Although I've never been on a VA flight in J where there hasn't been at least two options of whatever meal they're serving; one meatatarian and one vegetarian.

That's also been my experience.

I eat meat but don't subscribe to the notion that each meal must have it so I'll choose the one that most appeals to me. If I choose the veg dish but would also be happy with the meat dish then I'll let the FA know just in case someone else would miss out on a meal.

That burrito looks like a dogs breakfast. Does BNE-PER get anything more than MEL-PER given it's a much longer flight?

That tortilla could use a bit more colour for my liking. Tough call to actually present that burrito - they haven't made it easy, as you can't warm up a wholly pre-fab'ed burrito with avocado and tomato in it, and not have the veg wilt out.

I think BNE/PER doesn't get any more than MEL/PER, but the FAs will gladly fetch you anything if you're hungry (usually raiding the supplies in Y, which is what I imagine accounts for QF WP's sausage roll and mini pie). I could be wrong here, or things may have changed.

Quite a few piss poor experiences on VA business in the past month. Their attempt at running a business class is looking increasingly lame. And that seat on the 737 is really ordinary. If QF flew MEL-OOL I really think I would go back. I've almost had enough of what VA are offering.

Given it arrives at 12:50pm, I was starting to get peckish. Don't know if it was raided but it hit the spot. Loved the relish - would have liked something to dollop it onto the pie & sausage roll.

I mean a soggy pie with mash and carrots! If any chef had ever had any input whatsoever into that meal I'll be a monkeys rear end. Not to mention FA's who should be wearing "I'd rather be somewhere else" t-shirts. How long can they actually spend hiding in the galley ignoring the customers. Quite unbelievable.

Was it at least tasty?

MEL-HBA breakfast flight - "Breakfast Burrito" - it was surprisingly good!

The first is a better way of presenting that same burrito that QF WP was given on a transcon flight.

The second I take is a mini hotdog or some sort of sausage butty? A rather odd snack, to say the least! Not sure about 'light' either!

I flew Qantas via Sydney in business class. ;)

It ain't pretty either ...
No, not pretty.

It was described as a "Beef Hot-Dog" and was a premium type snag about 3" long garnished with a spicy onion jam served hot.

... quite nice as well ...

There was a choice between that and a fruit & cheese plate. E90 3 of 3 in row 1 chose the hot dog, leaving the cheese for row 2.

Dinner MEL-BNE last Friday... moroccan lamb and couscous. Dessert was a sickly caramel thing in a box. Looks like VA listened to our complains about the salad and deleted it.

Return to MEL, it was barramundi bits on rice with a tiny bok choy, with bread and an inedible mushy cake in a box. Like a kid's meal in a food court. Sorry, no photo.
Crew both directions were great, they did the best with what they had to work with. Asked for some biscuits with my tea, they weren't too happy about that. Has the free-for-all on the Y trolley ended? Now I just fly J as the seat is larger, anything else is a bonus.
