Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

It is pearly couscous. You have different consistencies available.

It's known as Israeli or large pearl couscous from memory.

Either it's a figment of photography, or maybe that cous cous has plenty of butter in it.

In fact, you could almost fool me that it was polenta instead, except that polenta isn't rendered into small balls.

Well today I was told that as of today, the transcon service on the 737's has alligned directly to the A330 service in J class. Seems that someone at VA has finally woken up to the apalling difference in service on the 737 on transcon. so now you will get the Lanson champagne offered and the desert and fortified wines as well as cognac etc.. with table linnen, hot towels and all the trimmings.
Now I wont be quite so grumpy about aircraft swaps, as 737 wifi is miles ahead of XFA / XFB entertainment.

I'm also loving the newspaper stands that have appeared at the gates!

Good news, will actually make the 737 a viable alternative for day flights :)
I've taken QF 737's previously and the service standards have been the same as their wide bodies

where can put your wifi device and view, while eating??...the tray takes up the whole table.. I'd find it rather 'difficult' to eat, while holding my ipad/iphone/laptop etc...seems you must do 'one or the other', as the only option on VA 737 is BYO device.. another airlines' 737 supplies decent sized screens/AVOD...and at the very least, communal screens to watch a movie/shows (older 737s very rarely/if ever used on TRANSCON flights)

VAs download the app (it may...or may not work on your device),/BYO device/and find your own way to view it whilst eating..is not very 'premium airline' in my mind...just my opinion

It's not BYO device in J on VA.
The provided Samsung tablet sits quite easily on the centre console IME

I normally fit both, the tablet just goes on a slight angle. And quite aside from this. I don't watch TV whilst eating, I do one or the other. Now if they put a decent J seat in 737's, at the very least a slightly greater recline and leg rest, I'd be more than happy to take a 737 transcon.

Yep and yep!

With the abysmal recline they _really_ need a leg rest. I find the J seating on the VA 737 extremely uncomfortable and if I do try and recline the 2 inches or so the seat allows I just end up sliding off the overstuffed 'leather'. Love to see both leg rest and more recline, but at an absolute minimum we need a leg rest.

As you say, if they fixed the seating I'd be more than happy to take the 737 J offering. As it is, I'll change my schedule before taking these seats.

I think the 737 J seat isn't too bad and have done PER-MEL, MEL-BNE. MEL-SYD so have a pretty good experience with it. However I must agree that it needs a foot rest,...

And where are the coat bags?? They appeared when J was new then promptly disappeared!

Do you get coat bags / suit covers on a 737? I know that the coat hangers behind row 2 seats is where you hang up the jackets.

I can only speak about the A330, but I on the 4 sectors I have experienced, I got suit bags on 3 of them.

I think they are long gone from every aircraft now.
