Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I've been offered staff meals when Business catering has been inadequate, so access to Economy snacks is probably entirely up to the cabin crew ... as is most of the Virgin experience in the air.

Pretty decent breakfast on Bne- mel 6/11/14. 5.30am dep. the bread roll was a croissant type pastry thingy

And on Mel-Akl PE

Flew CBR-MEL-OOL on Thursday. CBR-MEL was 46 minutes flying time, the brilliant CSM Ally served all 4 pax in J (on the E90) our first choice, the duck fettuccine, with pre-during-after dinner drinks. The wine was a delicious WA Shiraz, and when I mentioned that I enjoyed the wine, a bottle somehow ended up in my carry on...

30 minutes after landing I was on board my MEL-OOL flight. That was an 'evening snack' service. 6/8 in J on the 738, served by CSM Erica. Choices were a charcuterie plate or a vegetarian quesedilla. I took the charcuterie plate and mentioned I was a bit hungry, so Erica kindly offered to keep a quesedilla aside for me. She also kept me topped up with the delicious Hunter Valley Genovese, I think I must have drunk the whole bottle. And she did make sure I wasn't driving on arrival before topping up my glass for the fourth time. The dessert was Serendipity lime & coconut sorbet and a Cherry Ripe Ganache (Erica gave me two, one for now and one for later).

*I have photos but when I uploaded them, they were all upside down. Any advice to fix that?

Is that a huge slab of butter in between the bacon and the beans? Or just a very square chunk of something eggy? Either way it looks tasty, but my immediate thought was "woah, that's a huge stick of butter"

I have had a similar meal and I think it may be polenta... good for soaking up the juices.

Was some kind of egg thing. Was quite nice

Just flew Sydney to Brisbane, Snack service was a crackers and Soya Bean cheese substitute. I can't even comprehend what is going though someones mind on this one. It was absolutely terrible.

If they dish up something cr*p just say "not good enough" and ask for a range of items from the Y menu.

I had that in Economy SYD-MEL early this month - this is a thread about Business Catering.

I am forced to a'la carte all the time on VA.

They don't do pre-meal nibbles with drinks (like Qantas), so I a'la carte nuts & pretzels in from Y.

And they have dumbed down their desserts, so I a'la carte something else sweet in from Y at the end of my meals too.

On longer length domestic B737 flights. (I should have been more specific. i.e. mid-con to compare correctly with similar length QF flights.)

Agree entirely. Bit ****house though that you have to do that. If they charge J fares, they should deliver a consistent product.

Good idea - almost put this into play when I was thrown a soggy egg baguette thing as a snack. I handed it back and said I'm not eating this.
I looked at the Y menu but it's junk food / canteen offerings. So I had water.

When are VA going to sort this out?

Travelled from SYD-BNE on the 11am service on the E90 and was offered a sweet corn fritter with smoked salmon and pickled onion or a vegetable sandwich. The CSM came out with the booklet which contained the detailed description complete with photos.

I opted for the former which came with a bread roll and a passionfruit yoghurt. Quite tasty and hit the spot.
