Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

From what I've been told the Pantry will be on all flights, but only the a330 (of course..) will get the full range and 737's will just got some potato chips and chocolate.

Actually B737 and E190 flights that are over 2hours and 46mins get the FULL Pantry (includes items such as cheese plates, fruit plates, finger sandwiches and more dependant on departure port).

Transcontinental (A330 and B737) flights only get the snack items as it already is a full 3 course meal experience.

Every business class flight will have the Pantry snack items.

And flights under that length....?

Didn't see this on my MEL-BNE business yesterday... actually was my first average business class meal in ages (Afternoon Snack).

Any also the reappearance of a Salad main with a side salad.... now that one is pathetic.

bullerdude,

Did you ask for the Pantry snack items at all? They are not promoted, just available on request.

The salad mains have come back with the new summer menu launched last week. Most salads you can add protein (depending on the salad can be prawns, chicken etc).

"not promoted" = we rely on pax not knowing it exists because we can't afford it to be 'standard'/too popular ;)

Well it is out there on the Facebook page and there are onboard pantry menu cards but if it is a short flight the meal service alone takes up most of the time. ;)

Big improvement this week. Used a comp upgrade, lunch meal was edible and fairly generous, service was very good and professional. MEL lounge was rubbish though, same food for two years now and why is that woman constantly in everyone's way mopping the floor but no one is serving at the bar

SYD-MEL
Afternoon Snack
4pm departure.

Was offered a panini and items from the pantry, but as a vegetarian i opted for a wrap from the economy menu plus some raw caramel chocolate from the pantry menu.. ( Don't be scared that its raw vegan, it was surprisingly tasty.)
Fantastic CS called Katja, with 6/8 seats full.

Won't let me add a photo for some reason... Will see how I go later tonight.

MEL-SYD
8.30pm Sunday

Slight panic at gate when we presented boarding passes, questioned if we were always on this flight or had just been upgraded (???) and informed might not be biz meals loaded.

Five in biz, one chose not to eat, we were offered Paninis or one remaining cheese plate. (note to self, sit in row 1 not row 2 next time, row 1 gets the choices, row 2 the leftovers)

Had the paninis, served with small salad, small ice-cream (mine was more like cold soup though), and glass of pinot. (and oddly a small slab of butter, no bread roll)

Pantry not mentioned.

Great crew, we were happy.

Dinner SYD-CNS last night.

Chicken (confit I think they said) with cauliflower and capsicum. Alternate was salad something with optional Salmon.

Like the size of the new plate. The cheese plate is a great idea. Bit of a squeeze on the tray.

Bread roll (soy and linseed or white options) and Christmas fruit mince pie to finish.

I don't know what this pantry business is. Three flights with VA past fortnight in J, no pantry! Two good service experiences, one bad. That's a grade of around a C for VA

Coast to Coast Pantry Pig

No fresh stuff on the A330 pantry menu.

pantry-chips_zpsf34ddf6f.jpg

Salt flavoured chips to snack on, something different please with my pre-meal drink.

Whats in the packaging?

Somethings not so sweet, won't be ordering either of these again :( yuck!!

pantry-pops_zps9cbf9b18.jpg

My need for chocolate wasn't satiated by the dismal drizzle on these either :(

Bit too full to continue stuffing this pantry pig's face, particularly after everything below as well (and the poor service from the FA on my side of the plane).

No photos sorry, but VA J breakfast on ADL - MEL on Monday wasn't as good as QF. Some firm yellow triangles that I initially thought were polenta turned out to be eggs, and the croissant was dried up and hard at the edges. Was only offered water prior to take off, no juice. When I said I wanted tea to drink with breakfast I wasn't given any chance to also request water or juice and they certainly weren't proactively offered either.
