Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

NTL-MEL Snack flight, choice of Caprese salad or Luke Mangan sausage roll. Not really a difficult choice

MEL-NTL Lunch flight. Choice of Green Chicken curry or some sort of salad (forget what). Chose the curry

Sauce was quite tasty, I didn't eat the chicken as it was gristly thigh meat. I don't eat anything other than skinless, boneless breast meat so maybe should have picked the salad.

Amazing service and even better food! The CSM explained that they are trailing a new menu, presentation and taste really on point and giving Qantas a run for their money!

P.s an hour from landing the CS gave us a menu 'from the pantry' with lots of snacks to choose from on it I saw sushi cheese plate and other things :)

Those mains don't look too bad actually! But they could have arranged the tray a little better... lol

But what I am more interested in is this new menu 'The Pantry' which VA is apparently adding to their business class service, so that snacks and the like are officially part of the service!! Now thats a good idea finally!!

Found it on facebook, it seems official:

Various items from the Pantry, which will be available for our Business Class guests to snack on during their flight.

Also the Tom Yum soup is GF and quite tasty, especially with cheese and crackers. I'm loving the new pantry option, good move.

Wow, two weeks ago we were talking about a'la carting in extra items from the Y menu (in this very thread), and now Virgin gives J its own additional items menu, hard to complain about that.

Don't worry dk4, just give it a little time and somebody will.....

I guess the question is this, is it going to be consistently this product? Or are they going to continue to offer inconsistent product in business.

From what I've been told the Pantry will be on all flights, but only the a330 (of course..) will get the full range and 737's will just got some potato chips and chocolate.

Time will tell FWIW i dont fly business much, but whenever i do they always offer things from the cart anyway, seems they are just calling the cart a pantry now

My flight was a B737 and I was offered the full pantry menu, I'll get a pic of it Monday to post. I even had the choice of finger sandwiches to have with my Tom Yum soup, but I chose the cheese plate instead.

Main thing to be aware of is that the items like cheese plates and sandwiches appear to only be on longer flights. MEL-SYD didn't offer them, only the packet items, still, as I wasn't too hungry on the second flight it meant I had an alternative to the main meal.

I'm not too fussy but I'd be quite annoyed if all I got offered was a bag of popcorn SYD-MEL in J at 5:30 next week...
Rookie error booking another flight just before dinner service :(

Nice lunch today on short HBA-MEL hop. I think 2 hot choices or a salad. I had meatballs which were nicely presented and tasty. But the highlight was actually the cheese and quince paste and ( upmarket) crackers ( flatbread). The cheese was actually room temp and nice and soft! Unheard of!

Sorry if the pic is sideways ( or worse). My first pic from iPad.
