Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Three rows of J? You must have been on one of the ex-Silk Air birds without the new seats?
IIRC there is only 1 ex-Silk Air bird carrying the ex-Silk yellow seats.
The 'old' VA J seats were still retrofitted on that specific aircraft, and without the divider looked a bit out of place alongside the old Silk Y seats.

Had the Spanish chicken dish tonight, vege option was fried rice. The chicken was really good especially compared to the pathetic effort in the lounge. Pre departure champagne was good as usual, I had the Chardonnay with the meal and wasn't a fan. Service on board was great. Hopefully virgin picks up a bit on the food on the ground as that has been continuously disappointing compared to what I find in the Qantas lounges (which aren't always great but at least they present food that is actually a meal at dinner not just the light stuff you expect at mid afternoon). Anyway, I'll be platinum soon enough on virgin with my boss forcing me to switch and have been overall pleased with virgin and Qantas customer service has gone down the toilet so I think I'll stay on the virgin side now.

Oh and someone really needs to learn about meal presentation in virgin head office. Blue light during meal service is an absolute no, it makes the food look so uninviting.

Brunch yesterday MEL-SYD.

Had the vege tart(other option was the ubitiqous Cajun sandwich). Really tasty, smashed down a couple of sparkling wines. Short sharp shiny usual Virgin-standards service.

"Cajun Chicken with Dirty Rice" - A dish I hadn't had before (not flown VA since March). Didn't look crash hot, but was really nice, rice included.

Ordering sequence was standard 1AC, 1DF, 2AC, 2DF

Attentive FA kept my GnT's running SYD-MEL until I had to decline further.🍸🍸🍸

Flew LST-MEL-CBR in J last week and the same meals were offered on both flights. Cajun chicken and a salad. The chicken was quite tasty and not over/under done.

The serving procedure, however, seemed a bit strange. I was seated in 1A both flights and was served last on one flight and 4th on the other. In both cases, service started with seat 2A.

I'm not sure what's going on (I'm Platinum and previously seat 1A has been served first). The service was good in both cases though, and there was no problem with being offered a top up of shiraz, even on these short flights. So no big deal.

Flew BNE-MEL return on the weekend and was seated in 1F on both legs. Was surprisingly served first on both legs. Not really sure why.

Had the egg and bacon quesadilla on the way down, but passed on lunch service on the way home.

Pretty tasty.

Copious G&T's - I eventually had to draw the line as I was driving, but the CM was happy to keep playing!

For those still working on the secret to life, the universe and everything, orders were taken 2A/C then 1A/C, 1D/F, 2D/F, however food came out 1A/C, 1D/F, 2A/C, 2D/F - nothing in life is simple it seems!

First time in VA J today

I had not realised the VA CBR lounge was (so?) small, but was reasonably quiet when I arrived this morning. I think its a nicer space than the QP, and anything beats the QF J lounge given its only view is of the car park. +1 for the pancake machine (I haven't seen one at the CBR QP).

Went to the ADL lounge on arrival (nice option to have!) and they had some reasonable pre-prepared dishes for lunch.

VA236 CBR-MEL
Only choice was bircher muesli which was quite tasty. Good service for a ~45 minute flight. No photo as I was famished.

VA219 MEL-ADL
Choice of the Cajun chicken sandwich or vege pie. I chose the sandwich which was tasty but didn't look particularly appealing when served. I was a bit worried about having the same muesli option but we were scheduled for 10:10 so I guess that's the lunch start time.

Hopefully some different options on the way back, but the CBR-MEL-ADL J fares were too good to go past at <$300. 160SCs each way.

It's really not that small at all. Did you go to the ZL "lounge" by mistake?
Ha, I was definitely in the right one. I think I'm just comparing to the QP there. It's the right size given VA doesn't operate nearly as much out of CBR.
