Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Just to note that it has been mentioned here (upthread) that current service standards are not to offer Sparkling wine as a PDB before 10am.
That definitely seems to be what I have found.
It’s not offered before 10am but on several flights I have requested sparkling and the staff have only been too happy to comply. I haven’t had one deny the request so far but these flights are usually on weekends so perhaps the staff are willing to bend the rules a touch 🤣

As PDB or for breakfast? Different rules if it's breakfast

Took the Mushroom and sun dried tomato bruschetta for a run, fellow traveller had the spinach pie. Both were tasty as. Noticed the staff all referred to me by first name (am WP), was in the new J config too. Great flight.View attachment 334485View attachment 334486
Same options for today's VA925 SYD-BNE. They displayed the options on an iPad, with orders taken being 1C, 1D and 1F (who were travelling with a baby and appeared to have put their other kid in 3F; poor thing thought she was sitting in 2D until she got told by 1D to move), 2F (2D was empty), myself in 2A who took the bruschetta (2C didn't want a meal) and then finally 1A once they woke up.

Orders served: 1D, 1C, 2A, 2F, 1A, 1F (once 1D had finished eating and could look after baby)

Was also offered The Pantry (2C having passed on a meal took a few snacks); took some chips.

The frequently mentioned Thai Chicken Curry or Truffle Mac and Cheese (which I didn't mind as I really dig the curry). 1A was a kid taking their very first flight it seems with their mother.

Orders taken: 1F, me in 2F, 1C, 2A, 2C (1D and 2D were empty)
Orders served: 1C, 1F, 2A, 2C, 2F. Not sure what the kid was offered

First time in business class today. Nice service.

Egg and cheese quesadilla which was delicious. Other option was a ham, cheese and mustard toasted sandwich.

VA434 SYD/ADL 1735
Gnocchi which creamy mushroom sauce. Didn’t mind it!
Other option was mustard chicken with potatoes and green beans

:(

Four weeks back-to-back of chicken schnitzel or gnocchi. Both ways, SYD-MEL. ONE week of mustard chicken… now back to the schnitzel!!!

Can’t even rotate meals monthly anymore!

Crew disengaged tonight… they thought the takeoff roll meant they needed to talk louder so they could hear each other  Service fine without being engaged. No acknowledgement of country or standing at the cabin divider on arrival.

While the meals are better quality than the competitor, I agree it’s getting very tiresome having the same handful of meals in J.

I guess the line of quality over quantity stands strong.

I've enjoyed the J means I've had, I don't fly too often so no issue of double ups.
You can have both!! There’s no reason other than lack of interest/care factor for them to schedule the same meal for the bulk of six months. They have 8 meals… all they have to do is rotate them.

Obviously they do rotate them, seems thou they may keep a few regular meals for short hops on the triangle as you may fly often.
Assuming some meals are easier and more convenient to heat up / prepare on short hops.

I've never had the snitz, bit of luck of the draw too what you get and how often, but yeah could be due for a total shuffle.

They’ve had all 8 options on the SYD-MEL… equally fine for heating and service. Or is it 10 options?

They used to rotate them, sort of every couple of weeks. But not anymore.

I've never had the snitz, ...
Talking about the chicken and time to heat up, here is what happens to the cheese when it spends too much time in the oven prior to service (due to turbulence, and crew being seated).

(Longer flight, hence dessert, and "Silkair" plane, hence bulkhead.)
