Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Is this a thing again, are we back to taking orders 1AC, 1DF, 2AC, 2DF ?

Flew MEL-ADL, ADL-DRW, DRW-ADL last week, all in J, and each flight was of this sequence.

I was seated in 1F on all sectors.

Previously as WP, seated in any J seat, I was normally hunted down and served first.
My order was taken first in 1D yesterday, followed by 1AC. So might still be going by status?

WP and I've usually been served first no matter where I sit. My order is usually taken during PDB service but I do the same flight most weeks and I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.
I do the same flight each week too! but completely different experience to you. Maybe route dependent?

completely different experience
Travelled VA a few times as SG and WP - never received any preferential treatment - taking meal orders or serving meals etc. Most times was either on 1C or 1F, once was in 2F and they ran out of vego meals by the time they came to me.

VA227 MEL-ADL

Caramelised onion tart and Reuben sandwich. Orders taken and served 1A-F, 2A-F. Not everyone opted for a meal service so was able to get the tart despite being in 2A (already scarfed a sandwich while I was in the lounge).

Bad lucky, i recall several occasions WP got asked for preference first when they have more of the less popular options like 3 and 5 availability.

VA429 ADL-SYD

Green mustard chicken or gnocchi with creamy mushrooms and basil. Orders taken and served 1A-F, then 2F-A. Went for the chicken. Prefer the Thai Chicken Curry.

Drinks got served separately to the meal with a packet of Santo's Avro Mix. Also plentiful snacks from The Pantry available if you wanted it; the rest of row 1 was a family with a kid who was under 10 so lots of potato chips came their way.

Are we in consensus that VA are now back to serving Business pax 1A-F, then 2A-F ... or thereabouts, but basically starting at 1A ... regardless of status?

No. They always take beyond orders first.
Mostly served zig-zag.

Some CMs will prioritise platinum
Generally if the CM doesn't start at 1A, they will work logically around from where they started.
Generally those just having a drink/snack will receive it before those who ordered a meal.
Sometimes the cold option will be served first to those who ordered it, while the hot option is still heating up.
...
Overall:
1A still best bet to have order taken first on a flight, but not always.
1A also a good bet for meal to be delivered first, but not always.

Nope, I find that when we travel as a couple (both Plats) we always get served first regardless of seating but when I travel on my own I’d estimate 3/4 of the time I’m still served first regardless

That was my experience last week flying from OOL --> MEL. They took the orders first for 1A-1C and then 1D-1F. Next they took care of row 2.

No they don’t always take Beyond orders first. But they most certainly used to.

Thursday week ago on VA785, my BNE-CNS flight I was in 2F and served last - only choice left was some vego muck so I opted for chips with cheese and crackers.
