Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

Also this morning, Monday 19 Novemer saw VA1721 6am departure PER-KTA cancelled.

I had 2 colleagues booked on this flight

As neither have VA status they were rebooked on the 1345 VA1727 service.

They were told their bags already checked in would be transferred to the new flight and left the airport to come to the office during the delay.

They both received $24 in vouchers to use in the terminal (3x$8) ea.

EDIT:

Looks like the VA1721 might have been sacrificed to allow the aircraft to instead operate the PER-ZNE service instead this morning, but that's pure speculation based on FR24.

VA274 CBR-MEL (VH-YFK) landed 4 50pm, 40 late as a result of terrible weather in Melbourne. The pilots are definitely earning their wage today.

VA412 SYD-ADL scheduled to depart at 0840 is running about 40 minutes late and now scheduled for departure at 0923.

VA1349 SYD-DRW scheduled for 0850 departure delayed by around 3 hours at this stage

Also on Thursday 22 November, VA1519, the 0955 hours midmorning SYD to TSV took off at 1050 with B738 VH-VUS. Arrival should be at 1219, 39 minutes tardy.

VA449 (VH-YVC, the 0950 hours ex BNE was airborne at 1023. DRW arrival is predicted for 1356 hours, 31 late.

Thursday 22 November 2018 sees dust storms in and around Sydney while WNW winds gusting up to 57kmh at the airport mean most aircraft are using runway 25.

VA939 (1200 'high noon' SYD up to BNE with B738 VH-YVA) took off at 1346 hours, so expect it to be at least 80 minutes late arriving in BNE. The identically timed departure to MEL, VA838 was further behind so VH-VUI will be similarly late at gate arrival in the southern capital.

These offpeak delays will be difficult if not impossible to recover from unless the occasional roster has a decent scheduled break in between flights.

Continuing with 22 November, VA842, the 1300 hours SYD to MEL was at 1424 still queued for departure. It is likely to be at least an hour late arriving. Aircraft is B738 VH-YWE.

VH-YFU on VA1141 (1315 hours early afternoon SYD up to BNK) is some aircraft behind VA842, so it is similarly at least an hour late.

They've canceled quite a few in/out of Sydney flights. Many people have been moved to services tomorrow morning.

VA849 (B738 VH-YFP) on 22 November, the 1400 hours MEL up to SYD that took off at 1501 is arriving on runway 25 and should be at its arrival gate at 1611, 46 minutes late.

The 1510 hours SYD - OOL, VA527 (VH-YFS) was airborne at 1608, about 40 - 45 late.

VA1178 (1440 hours SYD down to ABX) is worse with ATR72 VH-FVZ not having taken off by 1611 hours despite timetabled arrival of 1605 in the Border Cities.

VA418, however (1240 hours lunchtime SYD across to ADL with B738 VH-VOM) can top that, however, as by the time it takes off it will be after 1615 hours, so it's at least 200 minutes late.

The 1430 hours SYD - LST (VA1092, B738 VH-VUC) is showing an arrival time at gate in LST of 1734 but as it was many minutes from taking off as at 1617 this afternoon, that is difficult to believe. VA1534 (1405 hours scheduled SYD down to HBA, VH-YFN) is behind the Launceston flight so the Hobart one may be able to take off in 15 - 20 minutes.

VA950 (1305 hours BNE down to SYD, B737 VH-VBY) was in the sky at 1421 and is arriving at 1629 hours, 49 minutes late.

Later on 22 November 2018, VA279 (B738 VH-VUJ, the timetabled 1650 hours MEL - CBR that was airborne at 1744) should arrive at 1837, 42 late.

Opposite number VA278 (VH-VUI) is worse with this 1700 hours taking off at 1817, meaning likely MEL arrival at 1931 hours, 81 late.

VA660, the 1705 hours SYD down to CBR (B738 VH-YFP) was in the sky at 1831 so arrival is forecast as 1922 hours, 77 late.

B738 VH-YIO on VA146, the 1600 hours AKL - SYD that took off at 1754 is arriving at 1959 hours, 139 minutes behind schedule.

SYD's north-south runways reopened late on Thursday 22 November with VA891, the 2000 hours MEL - SYD (B738 VH-BZG) taking off at 2101 hours and arriving at 2212, 47 late.

VA970 (1705 hours from BNE down to SYD) was in the sky at 1952, arriving at 2214, 154 late with B738 VH-YIW.

VA947, Friday 23 November 2018's scheduled 1400 hours SYD up to BNE has B738 VH-YFF. It was airborne at 1614 so the predicted arrival at 1631 will be 121 late.

VA851 (1645 hours MEL - SYD, VH-VUP) took off at 1841 with arrival suggested as 1945, 104 late.

The 1455 hours BNE down to MEL, VA334 took off at 1623. Arrival for VH-YWD is at 1935 hours, 80 late.

Later on Friday 23 November, VA871 (1730 hours MEL - SYD that was in the sky at 1957 with B738 VH-VOO) should arrive at 2105 hours, 130 late.

VA869 is the 1715 hours northbound but it took off at 2000 hours with VH-VFY. Its arrival should be at 2111 tonight, 151 late. VA875, the 1800 hours to SYD (ex MEL) is next with it in the sky at 2014. Expected arrival is 2127 hours, 122 late.

VA875 MEL-SYD (VH-VOL) 6pm service left at 8 14pm (134 min late), expected to arrive at 9 17pm (112 tardy). This is impacting VA989 SYD-BNE 8pm which hopefully can leave prior curfew time. It is scheduled to leave SYD at 10 17pm (137 tardy).

VA879 MEL-SYD (VH-YFK) 6 30pm service is expected to depart at 8 52pm (142 min tardy), hopeful to land in Sydney prior curfew. VA993 SYD-NE is scheduled after this flight, with a scheduled departure of 10 49pm. Unless there's flexibility with curfew, this service is likely to be cancelled.

VA241 MEL-ADL (VH-YUD) 6 40pm is also delated as this service recently landed at 8 31pm. This service has a scheduled departure of 9 29pm (169 min late). This is also impacting VA246 ADL-MEL 8 35pm service which is now shceduled for 10 54pm (139 min behind).

VA247 MEL-ADL (VH-VUH) 8 10pm service is also delayed, with a revised departure time of 9 25pm (75 min behind). This won't have a further impact on other flights as this is the last scheduled flight for the day for that aircraft.

VA697 MEL-PER (VH-YWE) 8 30pm service is delayed to 10 21pm (111 min tardy) as the aircraft is running late from the SYD-MEL leg (VA876) currently on route and expeceted to touch down at 9 45pm.

VA883 MEL-SYD 7pm service was cancelled.

VA332 BNE-MEL cancelled.
VA351 MEL-BNE cancelled

VA168 AKL-MEL delayed. Departed AKL at 1756 (101 minutes late) and expected to arrive in MEL now at 1935 (70 minutes late)
This will affect the return across the ditch with VA169 MEL-AKL tentatively scheduled for a 2010 departure (60 minutes late)

VA43 (BNE-DPS) delayed 26 November with a revised departure time of 17:35 (originally scheduled for 10:10). No reason provided by VA at this stage.

On Monday 26 November 2018, VA908 (B738 VH-VUC) has had a bad start to its early morning, second of the day during DST in the southern states 0600 scheduled ex BNE flight with takeoff at 0818. Arrival should be 124 minutes late at 1039.

The BNE - MEL VA304 (the 0555 hours airborne at 0640) has VH-VOS and is arriving at 1007 hours, 52 late.

VA412 (0840 hours SYD - ADL) did not become airborne until 0943. B738 VH-VUX should arrive at 1111 hours, 512 minutes behind the timetable.

The 0900 hours MEL up to SYD, VA827 did not take off until 1008. Predicted arrival is 47 late at 1102 for VH-YIT.
