It was one of the benefits of the promo - earn the required status credits to get another year of Velocity Gold & nominate a companion Gold membership. It can be done over the phone, as discussed up-thread.

Anyone know the timeframe for nominating someone for the companion gold? I completed the status match in March (I think) and have a review date of June 2022 - would like to hold off on nominating my wife for companion gold until December or even later so we have gold in the family in late 2022 if I fail to requalify in this covid age.

Has anyone received their welcome pack with their new Gold Card?
Got the status back in June and still haven't received anything.
The Contact Centre says there are 'issues with card deliveries' but surely this should have been resolved now.
Not in a hurry at all but quite odd at the same time.

But it is odd that they told you they had "issues with card deliveries" when anytime I contact any company in relation to a delay of service, I've been told "It's CoVID, so. ..." (lol)

Doesn't matter what your question is, the answer is "due to CoVID" (lol)

Yes, oddly enough so did mine, but I didn't. The rationale, I was told, is that they are issuing cards only to for` new god status, not renewals ... and because we already had gold status thru Discover Gold we weren't new cases but renewals. Go figure.

Could you not just get on the website and request a new card be issued? (assume this option is still available on there?)

No it doesn't work for gold. Tried phoning guest centre as well, no joy there either.

Gees their website is getting a little "smart". Just looked, can do so as a Plat.

... which of course makes nonsense of the argument that giving to golds would be bad for environment but giving to plats isn't!

I can give an update on this. Folks like me who qualified thru the Discover Gold challenge weren't sent a welcome pack, but ...

... if/when you earn the necessary SCs and eligible sectors to qualify for a renewal of gold status (presumably by 28 May 2022) you will be sent a pack .... at least I was.

Update : I got my welcome kit for Gold last week. Card, tags & all

"Update" to the Update - I gifted Gold to a mate and she got her welcome kit, card, tags & all, 3 weeks prior to I received mine

Ah ... so it might have just been coincidence that my kit came about 2 weeks after I qualified for an extension to May 23 then!

yeah...my Velocity Gold was extended to June 2022. I took up the Qantas Gold discovery offer in 2020. Made one VA flight so far.

400 VA SCs required to retain VA gold for July 2022 will be a tough ask I'll need all my SCs going towards retaining QF Gold.

VA has the extra SC's on all flights, cash & even rewards seats so is easier than usual, of course being able to travel from your local airport is the challenge depending what state that is.

I know tough to keep GOLD or higher on 2 airlines if not flying for work.
