Regardless of what people think of ET/AusBT's 'antics', another question is whether ET/AusBT's jumping the gun could be held responsible for the delayed announcement till Monday?

Saw this floating around on the interwebs

Next to it should be the old "Singapore will TAEK OVAH VA!!!!1111!!!"Surely one square should be *A
10 pages now and more to come after Monday...
More about nothing either wayI doubt there is anything more to come.. no media call on Monday, so no reporting to happen
What pre-event hype? For what I can see the only reason any of us knew this was occurring at all was because of a mistakenly published article on ET that was quickly removed. Having a few drinks and a DJ at the bar at the Ovolo in Sydney seems to be pretty low key to me and roughly in line with the level of what was announced. Not upset, just laughing at the piss weak announcement after the pre event hype (again).
Ah… but they didn’t stop it, either. What pre-event hype? People in this thread hyped themselves up and are now feeling let down over a hype they created themselves out of nothing. Virgin certainly didn't create any pre-event hype.
We know there'll be no alliance, no way for many reasons mostly cost.If it is a major announcement (which looks very unlikely, major announcements like an alliance or new airline partner would have had branding at the event - all we saw was a new "logo" and "slogan").
It's also pretty strange to have a media event 100+ hours before the embargo is lifted. It's a business day today - what's wrong with today? Who needs four days to write their articles? Not very fast!
So my guess is there will be some minor changes to the program, possibly one or two new ground partners - something like lifetime status or dynamic reward pricing perhaps - but nothing that will "wow" the general travelling public.
Or perhaps the embargo is on the logo itself - it hasn't broken news on any other site or on the Velocity website. Not that it's exactly newsworthy.
Given media were flown in for the event I highly doubt it…
SQ has taken a stake in Air India rather than get involved again with Virgin Australia.....hmmm.Next to it should be the old "Singapore will TAEK OVAH VA!!!!1111!!!"
Aware of that. Was a referencing to the said title during the pre-adminstration era (and the hype by the media and wider social media) which all of the 'so called' takeover articles ended up as 'fake News' everytimeSQ has taken a stake in Air India rather than get involved again with Virgin Australia.....hmmm.
Also, isn't it a bit odd that they held the event in Sydney, not their home of Brisbane?

If I had to hazard a guess, if there's a new logo and branding then there's probably a revamped Velocity website to accompany that. Maybe the delay is because it's not ready yet and the devs need the weekend to finish it? (I have zero insider knowledge of anything at VFF, but I do know IT projects...)
Enjoying this thread btw.
Maybe, just maybe, if a certain somebody hadn't broken a strict embargo.......If it is a major announcement (which looks very unlikely, major announcements like an alliance or new airline partner would have had branding at the event - all we saw was a new "logo" and "slogan").
