If Velocity means fast to them, it clearly show they have no direction either.
Hardly original - in Australia alone there's at least 5x "Spirit of [x]" names/slogans
Spirit of Tasmania - Ferry
Spirit of Queensland - Train
Spirit of SA - Art award
Even Spirit of Australia was boat well before QF used it.
Then there's countless examples of Spirit of [x] in other counties, especially the US - notably the Spirit of St Louis.
I can't believe Philip Adams attempts to claim ownership of such a derivative phrase.
Velocity means fast - well, at least nobody will claim ownership over that!
You missed the bit I wrote about marketing slogans not necessarily being able to be taken literally. Such as Spirit of Tasmania. Spirit of Australia.
So, "Velocity means Fast". Geddit?
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Fast track to status with family pooling?I'm not sure what's supposed to be fast.
I'm not sure what's supposed to be fast. The flight? Are they going to fly faster than the competition? Are they buying supersonic aircraft? Do people want fast? Some might rather cheap and comfortable.
Its marketing. Do you really interpret everything you hear in commercials, ads, marketing, as literal??
Its a slogan. <redacted>
Well… it’s better than Accor’s ‘Live’ slogan… which once i said ‘live’ as in breathing and not dead, it’s hard to ever get what they meant, which is ‘live’ and in ‘be’.So you like the slogan?

They don't have to be 100% literal but they have to mean something that's relative to the airline. This is meanlingless dribble.
You would absolutely crucify QF if they were the ones adopting this.
Marketing is supposed to convey something. An image, an idea, something - that advances the product image. This does nothing. It's stupid - deal with it.
Up there with the best….Jeez, I'm comfortable with it all - its just marketing! But others appear to be in a frenzy about it . Wringing hands over meaning of 'velocity' and 'fast' . Its a slogan!!
Not upset, just laughing at the piss weak announcement after the pre event hype (again).I dunno why everyone is so upset about this
Also something that occurred about 10 years ago...I dunno why everyone is so upset about this, if it was Qantas they'd have announced a raft of "enhancements" and made the program "simpler and fairer".

I really don’t get it. The “pre event hype” was by ET, not Virgin, and it lasted about 2 hours before Virgin made ET take it down. And the “piss weak announcement” hasn’t been made yet, and as far as we know won’t be made until Monday. Not upset, just laughing at the piss weak announcement after the pre event hype (again).
Regardless of what people think of ET/AusBT's 'antics', another question is whether ET/AusBT's jumping the gun could be held responsible for the delayed announcement till Monday?I really don’t get it. So what is there to laugh at exactly? And how exactly do you know that the announcement that hasn’t been made is “piss weak”?
