A while back VA had a discount code that could be used for (almost) any domestic booking.

Thanks for that medhead. How does it work with Australia to coughet? It says it must be on VA aircraft but VA don't fly there but use SQ. Am I missing something?

Funny how you can put any of these promo codes in and you never get a message that says "code not valid" you just get the prices. The fact is the prices don't change may not register with some people and they book anyway thinking they are getting a discount. I just tried DRS79 for SYD-TSV (currently $185 o/w cheapest) and FHM36 and got no discounts. But then MPV23 gave me $16 off so nothing to be sneezed at. Not flying until late July so I might just wait and see if anything else comes up.

Usually when the promo is applied, a little red flag appears against the adjusted price. Though I take your point that if it isn't applied, then nothing different shows.

Probably a really stupid question, but just to be sure. When using the promo code for VA, do you still earn status credits and have these flights qualify as 'eligible flights'? I can't see anything on the VA website that states otherwise, but before I book, need to make sure that these flights will qualify. Thanks in advance.

Yeah they do, i got SC and points, including the 2x points they were offering when i used a code in March.

When the search page appears there's a box with "promo code" but when the whole page loads it disappears and I can only enter my proposed flights with no option for a code. I've tried reloading and logging out etc but nothing appears. They are using a lot of real estate to push their Gold Coast fares.

Otherwise if you do a search without a code and then select modify search after the results have come up, you can enter the promo code in then as well.

Okay thanks that worked. The box re-appeared (to my myopic eyes) down to the left below the place where you select dates and so on. It normally appeared over on the right and a phantom version still appears before vanishing.

These OOL special fares are almost 50% more than 12 months ago.
