Click here for a list of current Virgin Australia discount codes:

A while back VA had a discount code that could be used for (almost) any domestic booking.

Are there any discount codes that work at the moment?

Thanks!

This is my first post on AFF! I'm a WP and planning to do some SC runs to retain WP for another year. I've noticed that the GJM59 promo code works for some of the legs I was going to purchase J class for. My concern is that VA will cancel your ticket or perhaps do something awful (like not award SC's) if they discover that you weren't entitled to use the promo code.

Any thoughts on the matter?

Cheers.

Welcome to AFF nerdfinger!

Many of us have used many different codes (and many mistake fares as well) and I cannot ever remember an issue being raised. Basically all my booking use a code and I've never not accrued points and SCs and I've always flown the booked sectors. Having said that, if VA (or any airline) decide to enforce rules, then we'd all be hard pressed to argue the point.

Agree with swanning_it... I have never had an issue and I would be surprised if anybody has had an issue on this forum, (happy to be corrected) however like any ticket it is subject to change fees etc, etc....

Welcome, never happened to me and I doubt they would ever enforce it. If they were serious about restricting promo codes they would have processes in place to stop ineligible customers.

I have thousands of dollars worth of flights with GJM59 applied and I'm confident you'll be fine too.

Welcome to AFF nerdfinger.

I have booked 8 sectors using GJM59 and do not expect any issues. I have used other promo codes over the last few years and have never had a problem.

All of the codes have come from this thread and have saved me lots of $

As others have pointed out, if it was a problem for VA they would make the promo codes more restrictive.

I have always received SC's and points

+4 nerdfinger. They would be cutting off their revenue stream that is coming to them and not QF.

All they need to do is be tighter with the requirements for accessing the promo codes, then very few of us would be flying on them...

Their "family & friends" rates are very open to interpretation - just look at the Flyertalk IHG "F&F" rate where everybody knows the couple of Execs whose codes are on that thread (I haven't utilised for quite a while, so correct me if I'm wrong).

Not working for me on Economy Saver seats from BNE -LAX Nov-Dec.
Same price with or without the code

Yep, you are right however it is applying the discount to the flexi fare and business fare. The saver fare is pretty good without the discount. However having said that, QF has similar pricing around the dates I chose. (actually better with a slight change of date)

Does anyone have any experience using a promo code over the phone?
I'm thinking about extending a trip by a day, and used the promo code on a saver fare. Happy to pay the $80 change fee, but using the promo code there will be no fare difference.

received this today, not sure how it compares to any other codes still in operation.

Do you know if the 31/12/16 date is the cut off for booking or the cut off for flying, or both?

Virgin have shortened the timeframe by 3 months! Previously the codes were valid for booking for 3 months, with travel up to 6 months after end valid date, now 3 months.

Has anyone managed to use either of the new codes? I have tried both on different computers over a couple of days and neither apply? Perhaps a foolish question but should the codes work regardless of the fare or flight?

Working fine for me, they will only discount VA flights, not codeshares operated by partners. If you are looking at peak times perhaps all the eligible fare classes are sold out?

Had no issue using the FGM23 one for some MEL-DRW flights in September.

Walter,

A 20 day advance purchase period applies so could that be your issue?
