Virgin Blue embarks on brand overhaul

For such a small part of the group, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to retain the Polynesian Blue brand. Is the benefit of the Virgin branding so important for a one-aircraft operation?

Hence, I'm inclined to predict that, perhaps not immediately, but sometime in the future, DJ will evolve into a two-brand operation: Virgin Australia (domestic, tran-Tasman and international ops) and Polynesian Blue for the joint venture with the Samoan government. While the V Australia and Virgin Australia separate branding for domestic/intl is a bit messy, I guess only time will tell if negotiations have been successful with SQ and it may be the best solution in the interim. Would love to see a wider partnership with SQ and Star Alliance membership, but I guess we will have to wait and see.....

4th of May 2011 :
The 2nd A330 arrives from KUL approx 0930
The latest B738 arrives from CHC at about the same time.
Both in the new livery. ;)

Don't know the arrival port, but suspect BNE.

May I ask how you know this? ;)

Not sure it will be the latest 738 as that aircraft VH-YFE has only just undergone it's first flight test , the first new 738,VH-YFC was delivered in early April but I believe it may be being painted in CHC in the new livery for some reason but I'm not in a position to confirm that.
As for the next A330 delivery I have heard that an early May delivery is on the cards.
Cheers

Well, you're all sorted then. They will also fly you from KL to Christchurch :)

Not a chance, even if someone pays for the ticket. But then agian, my weekly airtrain ticket to BNE costs more.

They have also registered:
VIRGIN AUSTRALIA COAST TO COAST
TM: 1420507

Potentially for the holidays arm?

From reading the record, it looks like branding for some kind of entertainment system -- either electronic or the new in flight mag.

Categories include: Electronic and recorded multimedia publications, Printed matter, publications, Air to ground telecommunication services, including telecommunications access to the Internet; presenting live television broadcasts to passengers and travellers, Transportation services in relation to passengers and freight, Entertainment of passengers and travellers, including access to audio and video recordings, games or puzzles by means of a computer based system and provision of Internet games or puzzles, Accommodation information, advisory, reservation and booking services, including the provision of those services in relation to a loyalty program or incentive scheme.

See record # 1420507 as above.

Doesn't entirely reveal what the new IFE mix will be but i think it gives some interesting clues -- and we know what they want to call it (or at least part of it).

777.

The new livery is exciting?

Nope, it means nothing really!

May 4th seems to be the big day now.

Rumor is Sir Richard Branson is in town too for the event.

At this stage, hopefully everything else is announced such as:
New seating for the 737's,
Business class for the 737's
Refit time line for the 737's
New pricing structure for domestic, seems it will be very much like Air NZ's pacific structure

At this point it should be interesting, but everything until now is just rubbish.

Hopefully the big picture is alot better than these tidbits (although two of these small tidbits are quite good)

Is it safe to assume that with the phased introduction of J on the 737's, that J seats will be sold as PE until full implementation later in the year?
