Waiving the annual fee won't stop me cancelling the card. Offering me 10K Velocity pts as well might....:D

I kept the card with the fee waiver. Now, so I book some more 2 for 1 Flexi while I can? ;)

Nice, think ill get on the phone and have a crack at a free deal and some points to boot as I put a reasonable anount through each month due to my employer exploiting my credit card .... at least they pay 7 days after a claim so im always ahead as long as I file the claim on time.

Hi everyone,
I am just wondering if everyone who tries to cancel the card is getting an offer of getting the annual fee waived? My annual fee is due in shortly so considering my options.
Cheers,

Cheers,
Yes - but only after speaking to a customer relations manager. I rang up to cancel yesterday and they waived the fee.

Just booked my final 4 2-4-1s. Managed to book sale-fare Saver Lites. Gosh I am going to miss this deal.

Just did the same. Used one for a Flexi to PER (ex-MEL) which has always been my preferred use for the 2-for-1s.

Used the old "call again" trick to finally have an operator which gave me a sale fare to use my final 2-for-1 ever.

The inconsistency between operators at VA and VFF still amazes me. Having said that, I've almost always used it to my advantage, so I'm ok with it. It has cost a lot of time though.

Mrs sbv72 and I both recently obtained Virgin Flyer cards for the express purpose of using 2-for-1s.

Made a booking on the weekend and both used all 4 of our 2-for-1s on a Flexi TSV-PER return (via SYD and BNE) in Sept next year. Travelling with kids in school holidays.

First operator said couldn't use it on Flexis for flights after 1 Dec. Pushed back and said it was for bookings after 1 Dec. Call dropped out and had no problems with next operator booking the Flexi.

Will be WP after this Saturdays flight BNE-MEL at which point I will upgrade the PER sectors to business.

Don't know whether I will renew next year but just for this return flight the $129 x 2 cost was definitely worth it.

Debatable whether Flexi and upgrade to business is best use of card but it is the only way I could get mrs sbv72 on a flight to Perth (loves traveling but doesn't really like flying)

To be honest Scott, I think that is THE best use of the card. The WP complementary upgrades are worthless if one only flys saver/saver lite, whereas getiing 2 flexis for a price similar or marginally more than 2 savers makes a whole of sense and then makes the comp upgrades useful again. I guess it's the very reason why the flexis and business classes are soon to be no goers with the 241 card! VA really want to draw flyers into buying flexis to use the upgrades. About the only time I'll do that is either C2C runs or if saver and saver lites have been exhausted.

Anyone made a booking on under the 241 deal under the new arrangements?

Not here, and I won't be using it again.

The VM card is useless to me now as I had previously used it for:

1. booking 241 flexi's and then upgrading to business with the 4 x Platinum upgrades, and
2. booking 241 business fares.

Have switched back to using QF only, so will concentrate on maintaining QF WP now.

I only use this card for the VFF points & as a back-up for my main card. The 2 for 1 flights are useless to me as I only travel solo.

No, but I will continue to use it. My Visa spent rarely exceeds $1500 per month (so I get the full $1:1 point transfer), I always travel on Saver fares (if available) almost 100% with my partner, and I do most of my travelling with Virgin, so well worth the modest $129 fee for me. FWIW I have done some sums and if you equate 1 VFF point to 1 cent, any people spending over $2500 per month would be wise to go for the $289 High Flyer card with the 1.25 uncapped points to the dollar, and the extra insurances.

+ 1 for using it for bus. upgrades. I've got to Oct 2014 until my next annual fee, so I'll probably hang on to it until then. I only use it as backup when Amex not accepted or surcharged.

Hopefully this recent "enhancement" will fizzle and we'll be back in Business (pun intended) again, otherwise I'll be dumping mine too.

Probably not the thread, but with VM, can you nominate multiple mobile numbers? I have four different mobile sims for countries that I regularly visit rather than paying for roaming but I can't access my VM account because they send their one off PIN to my AU mobile which is often switched off these days. I'd love to look it up myself, but I can't access my account as I can't get my one off PIN :(

Any better alternative to multi-country communications would also be appreciated.

No. Why can't you put your AU SIM in a $20 2G phone to receive the code? Incoming SMS is free.
