As they are regular bookings, there shouldnt be any problem booking flights as far advance as they are available and for sale. I plan to use all of my sectors up before I cancel the card (6 remaining hehe)

After what I expect will be a very time consuming exercise trying to claim points, I will also be cancelling this card and telling them why.... thanks for the email address supplied in this thread.

However...if she applies etc and gets approved. Could we book ourselves flexi fares for 2014 using the exisitng T&Cs. Im not sure if the T&Cs allow this or only for bookings till the end of November? I guess if its the later...you could still book flexi fares for November and then change the dates to suit for later. Would either of these situations work?

Just want to maximise my SCs and this offer before it goes away!

Any feedback would be appreciated
Normally when new T&C's are being implemented they apply immediately to new applications. The implementation date is otherwise specifically for existing customers only.

I tweeted both VA and VM yesterday, suprprisingly (not), only VA responded and asked me to fill out a feedback form, which I will be doing later today.

That's interesting as I would have thought these changes are being driven by VM not VA, in which case the feedback to VA would be useless anyway. But happy to spread it around.

DAMMIT!!!
I say normally. There is another party involved being VA who take the bookings and apply the discount. It would be a big ask for them to distinguish between VM's new and existing customers, in fact, I would guess its impossible, so it would be date specific.

Ok, regarding the idea of getting a comfort seat as the second guest. I think the terms and conditions have been sufficiently changed to prevent it. I have previously got a comfort seat as my free seat, with some difficulty. However, it now says "valid for two Guests only"

I think this is a change from the previous version.

What's stopping you from booking a second seat under "Joe Bloggs"? And then at the last minute, mr Bloggs misses his flight. There's a good chance the seat would be vacant.

So what do people consider a viable alternative to the High Flyer?

I will most likely be cancelling the card also as I'm not happy about the changes either.

Is there a VISA/MasterCard out there that has a comparable points earn to the High Flyer?

Not really interested in an AMEX either.

I would be aiming for something with lower fees and potentially lower interest. Don't forget to choose someone who actually know what customer service is and how to deliver it.

But the whole point of booking a comfort seat is that you get the points/SCs for both seats. In your suggested case, you wouldn't get them because mr Bloggs didn't check in and take the flight.

Re: Virgin Flyer 2-For-1

I think Bank Of Queensland bought the Virgin Money brand a few months ago for around $40million. The branding on the website and actual cardss hasn't caught up yet.

I recall hearing some comments in the press releases at the time that the cards were going to stay with Citibank because BoQ use Citi as their credit card provider:

Media Release Australia; Bank of Queensland Media Release.

It would appear BoQ sold off their credit card arm wholesale.

But back to the topic of two41s - My card is up for renewal in Feb, so I've got until then to find a replacement. Sadly I might just rely on a Woolies EDM and forgo the Velocity points (in spite of recent QF enhancements). Why oh why are both airlines rushing about madly trying to kill FF programme value for customers all of a sudden?

Well I guess we don't know who's doing the killing, or perhaps its just attempted murder, in the case of the 2 for 1...my money is more on VA than VM though.

Nothing really out there with a 1.25 points / $ on Visa or Mastercard. This point / $ equasion will probably keep me in still at this point.

You can take 1.25 per $ with a monthly point cap or go with a lower point per $ offer elsewhere with no cap. I think that if your going to end up with a similar end result your better off find someone with good service.

Just a wild stab in the dark, but it smells like it's been way more popular that they anticipated. The money to "fund" the free portion of the tickets has to be coming from somewhere, just like FF points/miles have to be funded somehow. The "viability" that someone from virgin money mentioned would suggest that either VM have decided that they're paying out too much for the two41s, or VA has hiked the price it's charging. Given the sudden removal of flexi and J fares, I'd be betting on a sudden increase. Probably from a flat, per-twofer fee to a fee tied to the actual seat cost.

But, as I said, nothing but speculation on my part.

Feedback sent, via email.

Re: Virgin Flyer 2-For-1

Don't hold your breath. When I rang to cancel my card after the last lot of changes they didn't seem too concerned.

I got a very good response to my complaints about the difficulties booking in January.
