Re: Check you actually get the two-for-one price

No, product functioned precisely as it had previous to VA descending into the black morass it's currently in.

Cheers. Took your advice and after 4 previous attempts over the past few weeks I just got off the phone with 4 successful 2-4-1 flights (i.e. 2 returns) booked in about 28 minutes.

The price was *slightly* higher than the website price but only about $7 per person per flight so I wasn't going to kick up a fuss about that given how generous they were with the changeover  Virgin Money did say on facebook last week that there were some changes to the fare types that were available.....

$7, sounds like the credit card fee.

No, I factored in CC charge.

Saver Lite fare on website was $100 each way (so $200 return). I was charged $240 for 2 people return using the 2-4-1 including all CC fees etc. I think it used to be only $215 ($200 + $15 for 2 CC charges) but its still cheap so Im happy.

Sounds a bit strange. CC fee used to be $4.50 per person per segment. But I'm sure this recently changed to match qantas @$7.70 per person per booking.

Anyway, it's booked and it sounds like a great deal.

Mine is still showing as "Temporarily Unavailable" - Grrrr......

make hay while the sun shines.............;)

Fun over? Mine has varied between the number and Temporary Unavailable...but for the first time now it actually has the number & clicks through properly from the More Details link.

Mine are back too. Going to have to follow smit0847 I think ;)

Tried to make a MEL-SYD booking 6 months out. Was told the price was exactly twice the current sale price for the same dates (so 1 2-4-1 is the same as 2 x sale). Asked why anyone would bother wasting 15 minutes on the phone using this offer when they can book a sale fare for the same price online. The guy had no idea. I wish Virgin Flyer would give some clarity around what the offer is or else people will just ditch the cards and book sale fares if they're the same price.

This is becoming like USDM - everytime I call up I get a different response.

The Terms and Conditions of the offer are published here: http://virginmoney.com.au/downloads/credit-cards/Buy_one_seat_get_one_free_Terms_and_Conditions.pdf

It is quite explicit in that it excludes sale fares, in point 1 of the terms. If you can get the same net outcome on the sale price, then go with that, and save the 2-4-1 for another time. Pick the offer that is best for the circumstances....

While they are the latest published T&Cs they are no longer correct according to Virgin Money...unless when they say Saver they are also including Saver Lite in that bucket. Either way, the T&Cs need to be rewritten to clarify.

They're the published T&Cs, so that is what really counts, when push comes to shove.

Either way, sale fares are excluded.

Irrelevant, they are legally bound to the published T+C's - Pretty much anything but a 'sale fare' should be included, this includes business saver etc.

The issues is the ambiguity around that fact that the T+C's do not state exactly which fare buckets are excluded, so you can get different stories from different call-center people who are reading different rules off their screens.
