How much time in the sin bin for this one? I cancelled my Virgin High Flyer in August 2018 - another bite at the cherry is attractive....

In my post up thread (#11) I suggested 6 months. Given it is run by Citibank who offer other cards, that may be a determining factor also if you have/had any of those in recent times.

Applied for this and approved within about 1.5 days. I had a call a few hours after I applied "chasing up" my supporting documents, with an added incentive of 5000 points if I sent them within 48 hours. So a nice 80K points for no net outlay - now to wait till September to try and secure a couple of J seats to USA next year.....

I applied for this card and received it in the post Monday. Went through the activations then started updating various payment details online. Shortly thereafter I started getting errors. Online banking gave some generic error, the mobile app even more broken. Of course as it turns out they had locked the card...without sending any SMS or call from fraud dept. Even 24 hours later, nothing. A great start and reintroduction to classic Citi levels of customer service!

Welcome to Citibank! They don’t get any better!

No advantage going through Pointhacks or something like that for extra points?

4 months since I cancelled my Qantas Premier card and thinking of giving this a go before it closes in a few days time.

Applied 22/4/2019. Approved within 24 hours. It's been around 4 months since my last Citibank card.

Hmmmm.

So I just applied for this and was rejected instantly. As in the "thanks for applying" and "sorry" emails arrived at the same time.

First ever rejection. I have had a Citi card early this year and a Qantas Premium/Platinum what ever it was last year.

Can you give a your rough income amount vs total combined limits held before application? An how many apps have you had in the last year. I am looking to apply before the offer runs out but very cautious.

Some people say you should wait 6 months between Citi Bank applications. That it's an unwritten exclusion period that Citi Bank applies. But I got a new card after just 4 months.

Same for me when I applied last Saturday, 6 months + a couple of days since last holding that card. I'm still holding the Qantas Premier Platinum though (which I'll close once the bonus points are in), but based on other posts, I thought I'd give it a shot.

(At least Westpac still likes me.)

I have had a few apps in the last year, all approved without issue. ( Always the lowest available limit).

I think the issue here was that I had the citi clear card in February and it is too close to that as others have eluded to....

I have that and one other at this time which I will be cancelling when bonus arrives.

Card received 26/4/2019.

Tried to buy something for $1500 yesterday and got rejected. Seems they blocked the card for suspected fraud reasons. Pretty annoyed that I needed to contact them and get the card unblocked. Why do they do this? Don't they think people will start to use a new card to meet the required spend target as soon as they get the card?

Happens all the time to me with a new card across many different banks/merchants.

I don't know of a way around it.

I have tried making a few small purchases before making a large purchase but this doesn't seem to stop the blocking occurring.

Very frustrating. Means if you're heading overseas with a new card you need to get it many weeks before you intend to depart as it would be a nightmare trying to get it unblocked whilst overseas.

Like Dt Ralph I have started seeing this. The part when you ring up and they comment "we're only doing it to protect you" gets right on my quince and I reply with "partly, for the inconvenience but more for yourselves as if it is proven to be fraudulent the banks where's the cost.

This for a flippin' Wish card from Cash Rewards...i had to convince them to keep the block off as they were going to keep it there and allow the one off purchase...then later that day had the same problem with First Choice liquor for an online purchase.

anyone know if this card will qualify for the Velocity bonus points in May? i know it's Citi but as the points are auto swept as opposed to transferred not sure .
Also, does each months's bonus point get paid out in the same statement period you made the qualifying spend?

If anything like previous promotions it wont :(

The T&Cs state up to 60 days after qualifying purchases.

I've had this card twice now. The first time (Q4 2017) the 20k points posted generally a week or so after the statement is issued. Not Speedy Gonzales but not dragging their heels.

I'm in the 2nd iteration of this card and got the 20k per month a little early as mentioned upstream and I've had 2 statements and the 20k points were transferred dead eye dick on the statement date.

Funny though, the spent points did not transfer on the first month but were transferred with the second month at the same time as the 2nd 20k points. The 3rd 20k coming up in a few weeks.

Hopefully like last time I get a 4th 20k points (with only spending around $20)
