Virgin Happy Hour [Thursdays]

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

BNE - SYD $69, been a while since I've seen fares that cheap. Too bad many of the dates are quite far out

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Glad I checked this thread. Need 2 BNE-SYD returns in August. Shame I don't have a gift voucher so have to pay booking fee.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

$75 SYD-MEL for all of August, where I plan on doing three return trips, yes please!!! :)

How quickly I had forgotten how sneaky Virgin is with these Happy Hour sales. Don't need to the first flight of the morning or the last flight of the night.

I always tend to book the last flight of the night and just turn up to the airport when I need to fly out. Basically makes it a flexi for the day

That's fine if you don't mind a middle seat. I refuse to sit in middle seat so don't want to be at airport hours earlier than my flight.

WHilst this is going off topic.
I'm on a red-eye from Perth to Melbourne in a few months and was thinking that I maybe able to make the flight just after 5PM. What are the chances of getting fly-ahead? Is a phone call worthwhile? Whilst I am "game" I dont want to be twiddling my thumbs for 6+ hours in the lounge.

I would be very surprised if you got fly ahead over the phone. You can try at the airport on the day of the flight but there are no guarantees.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

You could call the lounge to check the loading of the flight and make a judgement call?

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

You should be OK, I have had a fly ahead honored a few times even with check in luggage...

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Back to form. I got a SYD-BNE-SYD fare last week on Happy Hour for $190 which wasn't bad. Today I'm looking at SYD-MEL-SYD in late April and the 'happy' fare is $125 one way! How happy is that? There's a $99 fare at a million o'clock but I don't do those flights.
I'm probably better off just using one of the many discount codes we dig up in normal fare times aren't I?

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Today's HappyHour appears to be going for 14 days and the fares are pretty bland

Kinda what I expected / predicted yesterday.
Had a quick scan ... Some you could get a better deal using the current sale with the 10% off discount code.

Have I missed something recently? Discount codes were only valid on Saver fares at one stage. Has that changed again?

I've used it with the current sale. IE: PER - SYD came in at just over $180 with the current sale price being $199

Back in the early days most discount codes applied to any class.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I saw some cheap ($69) SYD-MEL fares so thought I'd bite but they were for mid January 2017! I've said it before - how many people know where they'll be travelling that far out?
