Virgin Happy Hour [Thursdays]

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

we live in hope, but 'if anything' might be an accurate prophecy

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I was wondering where all the good deals were during yesterday's happy hour... I don't think there were any.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

$149 for MEL-CBR hardly seems "happy hour" worthy though..

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

It will be interesting to see what (if anything) comes up on the 19th ....the happy hour after the Saver Lite departure.
It was interesting to see yesterday SYD-BNE and vv Saver Lite was $105 and Saver was $109. Only valid 1 week end of April. I still booked Saver Lite.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

At least MEL-CBR gets a run at happy hour.
SYD-CBR hasn't seen happy hour for months and is a flat $139

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I was looking at SYD-MEL and thought I saw it for $85 so I tried booking and all fares were $129, both there and back no matter when. I tried again and noticed that it was only MEL-SYD for that price so I booked my return leg and left SYD-MEL for next time. What's interesting is that it wasn't showing the returns as $85 when I first tried to book. They were really one way fares.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Happy hour flies in the face of true profitability.
VA can still have a Happy hour(s) sale but low avability of seats or none available when you or I want to fly.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

VA is 110% on the profit kool aid so no surprise specials have been dialed back.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

In away that is good -I have found that the 'unprofitable kool aid' always seems to have a really bitter lingering 'after taste'.

Interesting.

Auckland was on special last week and it was $159 BNE-AKL and $117 for AKL-BNE. I thought it was too good to be true so I booked.

This week there is another sale for identical dates and now BNE-AKL is $149 and AKL-BNE is $108! I wonder if they can go any lower?

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I got an email about Darwin now being on sale.... for the exact same value that I purchased about 2 weeks ago so not so much of a sale but it looked good for the average punter, I guess.

That is low! It's no secret they are suffering on Trans Tasman so perhaps trying to selectively drive some sales? Certainly domestic specials from both QF and VA have moderated.

Actually DRW is being strange at the moment.

I booked 7 days out and got S class each way from BNE (totally not able to do to for other destinations 4 weeks out)

The plane was then surprisingly full - and I noticed them handing out a lot of 'flexi meals' and the J cabin empty

I'm in the travel industry and can't work that out....

I booked later next week NTL BNE 3 weeks ahead and could only get L class (flexi)

They work in strange ways sometimes with their yield

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I wanted Perth and a Burberry bag for my birthday, hubby decided we're going to Darwin. Im sure there is a Burberry store in Darwin, somewhere.........
I don't know what Burberry is, but if it's a type of crocodile skin handbag I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for.

It'll be interesting to see what today's happy hour brings seeing as SAVER LITE is gone :)
