Virgin Lounge at Brisbane International

The Hobart lounge was opening in mid 2014 so I'm not holding my breath ;)

Given the Lounge isn't a VA lounge but instead a No1 lounge, one would hope it's ontime.

In theory it should open sometime next week, otherwise I'd no longer call it a mid november opening.

Im flying business with virgin from denpasar to sydney with a 2.5 hour layover in brisbane.

Just wondering if ill have access to the international lounge for the stopover. Or do i have to go to the domestic lounge instead?

Welcome to AFF :)

No - you'll do immigration/customs at Brisbane International. If you have checked bags you'll need to recheck them at the VA desk at the far far right of the arrivals hall before catching the train/bus to the domestic terminal.

If in Business BNE-SYD, you should have access to "The Lounge".

Has anyone heard any update on the progress of the Bris 'My Lounge'? Or passed through recently and noted any construction activity?

VA's online guide is now showing:
"The Brisbane ‘My Lounge’ will be opening in the next few months.", whereas previously if I remember correctly it was "in the next month", and a VA rep was quoted on AusBT as saying "due to open towards the end of November".

I'm passing through mid-December and was really hoping to give this lounge a go, but am starting to think my chances are slimming.

I'm flying out on Saturday, although not on VA. I'll have a look to see if anything is happening.

I saw no evidence of any building work yesterday. I asked some virgin staff but they weren't able to shed any light on the lounge situation.

My only thought is whether there is any room next to the emirates lounge foranotherlounge.

I thought the November opening was a bit ambitious. I guess we're looking at a March or April opening at this stage...

Im flying Friday and just got an email regarding lounge changes.

The Brisbane ‘My Lounge’ will be opening in early 2019. Until then there will be alternative arrangements for Virgin Australia guests travelling on international flights out of Brisbane from 28 October 2018. Business Class guests, Velocity Platinum and Gold members will continue to access to the Singapore SilverKris Lounge when travelling to Los Angeles until the ‘My Lounge’ opens. We are working with Plaza Premium to offer lounge access where capacity permits. In circumstances where we are unable to accommodate lounge eligible guests, they will receive a food and beverage voucher to use at any of the outlets at the Brisbane International Airport.

:(. I have an ex-BNE trans-tasman J flight booked for a couple of days before Christmas, and thought that the original "late November" announcement would give me sufficient buffer for slight lounge opening delays. Looks like it'll be Plaza Premium or *shudder* food+bev vouchers.

I was lucky. The plaza lounge was near empty when I was there on Friday.

The food was ordinary. Just toasted sangas and some mystery noodles. Overall though I would rate my experience fairly highly given cold beer and cricket on the TV.

Were you on a morning flight or an afternoon one? I'm flying in the morning, and it looks like there will be a few flights/airlines sending their elite passengers there (4x VA flights, plus one each from KE and IE between 0830 and 0930).

Afternoon. Arrived around 4 left around 6. It was fairly quiet no more than 10 ppl.

I also looked at what was departing at the time as I had a domestic flight before and apart from one beer in the VA domestic lounge decided to risk it with PP and it worked out ok.

Thanks for the tips guys. As a VA gold I guess I might just fly Qantas and use a lounge pass.

Bit late, but partner (red) and I (gold) passed through mid-December (the 15th) on the way to Port Vila from Melb.
Agents in Melb had no idea what the arrangement was, so said to go to the check-in counters in BNE and ask.
Without hesitation the agent in BNE directed us to the Plaza lounge. It was maybe 60% full.
I thought it was a nice enough lounge, nothing too flash, but considering the terminal was packed everywhere we looked, was glad to be in a lounge.
No sign of any work up near the supposed home of the new My Lounge

Mentioned on the following page as a current project from the construction manager - Project Stats 2018 Q4 - QUADRIC

Aviation & Security
  • BAC Accessibility Bathrooms – Brisbane ITB
  • BAC HQ – Level 2 East Wing
  • My Lounge Fitout – Brisbane ITB
  • DJAG – Court Dock Upgrade Stage 3
  • High Security Fitout – Newstead
  • Secure Room – Springfield
  • Magistrates Court – Coolangatta

It's probably in planning and approvals phase if no activity occurring in the airport proper.

Let's see if the lounge can be done in 3-4 months or will it drag out even longer than that...

Plaza lounge at Xmas was very bland to say the least. Unless you want free booze I'd avoid it.
