I assume you're not actually lukemangannet then? :)

Very cluey....I must be theonly one who doesn't read handles before posting!

Perhaps he is lukemangannet and is absolutely sick of seeing his name on some of those barely edible offerings! Double edged sword!

LOL :) No, Im not Lukemagicchef :D but I could give them some tips for the food they offer... I would do it for free as well..

We hear you on this, and can tell you that we have in the works, a new menu plus concepts that will be rolled out in the Brisbane Lounge for the month of May.
Obviously the feedback we receive will help determine how it would/could be rolled out to our Lounge network.
More information over the next few weeks!

While this is great news, it is really not that hard to just change the menu, all you have announced is a "trial" in one lounge.

Just change the menu/add variety, ANYTHING would be better than what has been on offer for many many months

There is a rocket. walnut and pear salad with a sweet balsamic dressing that I tried on the weekend that I hadn't seen in the lounge before. It was delicious!

I was in the BNE lounge yesterday and found no noticeable difference to the food offerings, beside a different soup.

Is it May this year or 2014?

Ditto, they had a menu on show above the food, but it was almost identical to what has always been there. I have also seen that soup there before. The "something substantial" offering were the hotdogs (from 4pm M-F). I suspect the change has not yet been made.

That's got nothing to do with VFF saying they're trialing a new menu at the Brisbane Lounge for the month of May or lounge food in general.

Yes, but if you look back at the OP, that's not what this thread is about. I'm pretty sure that the OP was looking at all the lounges, not just BNE.

... or lounge food in general.

Au contraire. It talks of Luke Magicchef and VA food. It doesn't explicitly state anything about the lounge food, but it shows he's focused on Virgin at the moment (Or that's how I read it anyway). To me it suggests that we're likely to see progress in the lounges as well as on board in the near future. all IMHO though...

My question is simple, but I suspect the answer is not.

Based on my on experiences and the many comments in other threads in the VA forum, we all know that the food in the Virgin Lounges is pretty ordinary and rarely changes.

Can we expect to see some improvement in the quality and variety of food in the VA lounges?
totd.... looking back, it seems its exactly what the OP is talking about.

After a few months of enjoying the SYD domestic QP x 2, I just got to experience the SYD Virgin Lounge on Thursday as a paying customer, as Gold is some distance away. It was standing room only at 3 pm and the food - I won't repeat what's been said before. I don't get to choose my carrier, but will be using this lounge a lot for some time to come.

I have no idea of how good Luke Mangan really is but he'd surely be embarrassed by what is served in the Y lounge. I can't see the point of associating some chef's name with mediocre airline food, as if that will shut us up. If the money paid to Mangan were spent on better food, I think most pax would prefer that.

And what's the connection between soup and winter? We're not exactly standing on the roadside.

Y lounge?.....Apart from the Club, it's the only lounge!

Don't discount the soup completely. The Thai chicken soup is excellent (although the recent asparagus one is, well.........disappointing). As far as I'm aware, the soup is a year round delicacy ;).

What's wrong with Luke's hot dogs ;)

I don't bother with the Virgin lounges anymore at all, with VA flights I now just arrive with the slimmest time margin possible and go straight to the gate - sometimes I make an exception for breakfast where I can put something simple and relatively healthy together.

Will look forward to seeing the new lounge menu.

I must admit that my toasted sandwich tasted much better on Thursday just knowing that Luke Mangan had designed the cheese slice, the sliced tomato and ham as well as the sliced bread :p

No condiments? ;)

Would have been even better if you'd nipped down to Qantas and got some of the Neal Perry mixed leaf salad

While I'm totally over the hot dogs, for morning flights I make sure I arrive with time to have breakfast in the lounge, as I don't like the flexi breakfast wraps.
In the lounge, love that museli, yoghurt is nice & coffee is consistently good.
