Mid May. Is anyone able to report back on the BNE food extravaganza?

I'll be transiting through BNE next Friday on my way home from TSV so if I get a couple of mins I'll stick my head into the lounge and report back. I don't have high hopes however.

You can usually smell the hot dog fat steaming out into the concourse from outside the lounge so if present don't bother entering ;)

Do let us know what you find!

The soup in MEL last Friday was awful. Watery and bland.
There was some meat with some salads that looked OK, but there was no sign or anything saying what the meat was (I don't eat pork). I could have asked of course, but wasn't that hungry.

Was there on sunday, nothings changed.
I didn't notice anything different either (Sunday night)

CBR had a salad thing that I hadn't seen before - it looked OK, had beans in it I think. I probably should have tried that instead of wrestling with getting a hotdog into a bun that seemed to fall apart as soon as you opened it (the BBQ sauce/relish for it was nice though). That was the only thing out of the ordinary in the SYD-CBR-BNE lounges that I saw

Hotdogs in SYD and BNE tonight again... really? Hot dogs? Again? And in both ports I'm flying from? So glad that I'm in J tonight (thanks to 15% points discount and SCs on Reward seats - so I guess I can't complain about everything!) but really... sooooo over hot dogs.

Hi Aff'ers,
We really have to apologise for an internal communication breakdown.
Unfortunately the new menu trial for BNE has been delayed (obviously), and now is looking more like July.

Clearly, we should've updated on this earlier, so we do offer our apologies on that.
We do know how you were looking forward to tasting something new in the Lounge!

When we have more information to share, we will report back (after double checking the facts!)

Thanks for popping up - you just saved a lot of people a lot of ranting and tangential arguments. Then again, people are now going to wonder why it takes so long :/

I quite like the brown rice salad. Overall, my preferred hot option has been the Indian/meatball curry one of a few months back. I certainly would not eat a hot dog on a white roll - what would be better is vege burgers on some sort of seeded roll. Scored a meat pie at Canberra the other day - and I must commend the lounge staff there, all very helpful and nice people. Noted that the Katnook red wine on offer is the same as headling Q's Epicure offering this month. Good business for Katnook!

If you would like to do a pre trial trial I am sure we can get a tasting panel together!

This is the best hot meal I could put together in MEL lounge last night. :(

There was soup but that doesn't count.
