Virgin Lounge Menu

Some good suggestions here. I agree with a lot of them.
I personally think anything hot will be good and especially if it can be made to order, that would be a really nice touch.
Maybe Luke Mangan should get working on a few items that could easily be prepared to order that is also tasty, hot and quick.

Thanks AFF community and particularly the T.S.A.S. - we hear you!

Pleased to let toastie fans know that as of next Tuesday, we will have all day toastie stations with sliced tomato and condiments, in all Virgin Australia lounges, and a 'normal' toaster will also be available in the Melbourne lounge.

Based on your feedback, we're also including Swiss cheese, sliced tomatoes, condiments, and salad dressing at lunch and dinner. But that's not all folks ..... we are now investigating:

  • more hot items (quantity and variety) in the evening
  • heartier breakfast options
  • more choices suitable for gluten intolerant and other dietary requirements
  • other non-alcoholic beverages
  • plus a few surprises. ;)

Please do note though that our lounges don't profess to provide a full sit down meal, nor intend to compete with the cafes/restaurants, your mum's roast, wife's casserole, or catering at the corporate function you're attending. We just want to provide you with fresh, tasty light options to keep you going!

Any and all feedback is of course welcome, and if you'd like to send through to [email protected] the team can review and investigate even quicker than we can through watching and participating here. In saying that, reading about what everyone likes on their toasted sandwiches makes this particular rep not feel so strange!

(Please Note: These changes apply only to the Virgin Australia lounge menu, our on board menu is separate to this)

Thanks again.

Who would have thought the humble toastie could be key to frequent flyers hearts ;), well maybe not but its a good start!

No that is what I call responsiveness, and just in time for next Wednesday's AFF drinks gathering at The Lounge in BNE :D

What an excellent response, thank you VA for listening

Bugger! I was just thinking the other week, as I marvelled at the Hilton Cairns buffet breakfast, that it would be wonderful if DJ put on a similar breaky...........perhaps not :(.

But I agree, a great response and I'm really looking forward to it........especially the surprises :).

I had Swiss cheese, tomato, salami and condiments on toast in the Perth lounge yesterday. Yum!
And my soy cappuccino was wonderful! Thanks DJ!

Thanks for the reply Virgin, really appreciated that you've taken these comments and suggestions on board.

I'll admit that I was pretty disapointed with the food quality at BNE last week. Being NZ Gold I was used to having a number of hot options aswell as a good variety of cold options. However, ~5.30pm onwards there was no meat and had to have a lettuce and cheese sandwhich. It's a shame because the lounge itself is amazing, plenty of seating, plenty of big TV's, its quiet, not busy, all-day barista and plenty of booze! That's not to mention the staff, they were extremly polite and helpful and even gave me a tour of the lounge

I suspect (and could be wrong here) that the lack of hot food options in the lounge are a result of the infrastructure. If they didn't build the lounges with sufficient ovens, etc then it's a very expensive exercise to add them in now. It may be the reason that the hot food is pretty rare.

Granted that the lounge isn't supposed to replace other food options. However, when stuck in airports at mealtimes I don't really want to have to go and purchase a meal elsewhere when I am a lounge member.

I was in Air NZ lounge yesterday and it was pretty good.
