Virgin Lounge Menu

I can never understand the logic in putting a curry in the lounge, when shortly after eating you will have hundreds of people captive in a metal tube, floating air biscuits left right and centre is not a pleasant experience for anyone. Especially on Redeyes, when sleeping, there is no dignity or dicretion whatsoever :oops::lol:

Reminds me that astronauts aren't allowed to eat baked beans two weeks before a space mission. So I've read.

That's what it's been every time I've flown since I got Gold. Once they had the hot dogs too....

About 12 visits to the lounge in 4 cities over the last 8 weeks or so and I've never seen the beef curry, I'd welcome it! :P

Hot Dogs were in the MEL lounge on the afternoon of Dec 28th. They were nice for something different (I only noticed them as I put my sandwhich in the press (ended up eating both lol).

That chicken curry seems to be the standard dinner option in the MEL lounge. I don't like it. The sauce is really thick and gluggy and tastes like it's either been brought in frozen and simply reheated or else has a LOT of msg added to it. The rice always looks like someones chucked a hand grenade into the pan too.

Breakfast is by FAR the best food options in the lounge IMO - plenty of healthy fresh options. If Im there at other times I'll either make myself a toasted sandwhich or make up a plate of the salads, meats and cheeses (I really like that rice and nut salad they usually have).

It would be nice if VA had some more pre-made salads ready to go.

That dish has been on the menu since June last year.......

Agree with your comment though, as for the rice being messy, when it's the only dinner option available, people are going to make a mess of it

Virgin used to, not sure if they still do, bring around pie/pizza to the seating areas, which is a great touch. Does this still happen ?

I get that rice and a chicken curry is a very cheap and easy dish to make/serve/keep warm, but something else/variety would be beneficial

Oh and before those say I shouldn't comment, I have booked a few VA flights for this year. Virgin $79, Qantas $209 - I couldn't justify the difference.....

the joy of having competition, the wallet rules over loyalty!

To a point - :p
Tiger - Never
Jetstar only for F lounge
Virgin - Well the difference for a 1 hour flight was $120 to stick with Qantas.. Very hard to justify for that short flight

As for "anytime soon" well the flights are not until August... So that was 9 months after I said "anytime soon" :P

I do need to use up my 5 free upgrades though, so I will need to book more flights MEL-PER-MEL I guess....

Welcome back, enjoy the curry, by August it will be quite a different VA experience, and I hope I am joking about the curry still being there, catering being the biggest blight on their reputation in my books at present, be it on the ground or in the air.

If the Qantas flights drop in price I'd be prepared to walk away from the $79 VA fare :P

We'll see what happens between now and then as I don't like having all my eggs in the one basket (QF)

Anyways back to the lounge talk - and a new menu please :) oh and a J lounge....

J lounge, dream on!!!

Why ? VA have done a "chairman's lounge" which I personally think is a waste... They has been talk of the J lounge happening in both MEL and SYD and it would really make me happier to fly Virgin more

The J lounges are a major reason why I have moved to Qantas for pretty much all of my flights

Can someone ban this joker already...?

I am glad you love me so much that I annoy you

PS: I am glad that Virgin can't change between rice and hot dogs in the lounge. Luke must have a hard time making new menus..

Can confirm Business and Platinum lounge going into Melbourne. Not 100% on the 'Chairmans Lounge' though.
