Virgin Money credit cards (linked to Velocity rewards)

Finally, am I to understand that BOTH pax receive appropriate full status credits, but only 50% of the miles each (based on earn level for status x $$ paid?)

If this can indeed be used for J (business) and is as seemingly unrestricted as some posters have made out, then this card is worth getting just for the 241. I'm bummed that I didn't apply during the status credits promo, but oh well... there's still 15K points up for grabs now, and the 241 will help with the retaining of my WP status if I book them in J.

You are correct about the SCs and miles. You get full SCs for both pax and half miles.

From what I can gather, you can buy any fare as long as it is not a sale fare. To check the terms for sure, do a dummy booking to check availability - suggest you call the customer service centre and ask about the availability on a 2for1cc code offer before booking for whatever the ticket is you want. They'll read if it's available along with the price.

Has anyone managed to use Citi World Privileges (mainly the free bottle of wine offer) with their Virgin Money CC? On Citibank's website it says all Citibank CCs are eligible (Virgin is included in the list of Citibank CCs). Yet, the Virgin Money call centre deny the credit card is a Citibank card, rather it's "backed by Citibank", and tell me to call Citibank whether it's eligible for World Privileges. Citibank say to call Virgin Money. The constant circle is driving me mad...

If you are referring to the free wine offer under the dining program, then no, it is not an eligible card (elegible cards for that particular offer are the standard Credit Cards enrolled in the Citibank reward program (+ the Citibank Plus transaction product).

I am positive I had 1 more "2 for 1" remaining (it said so when I log into my Velocity acct), but since activating Family Pooling recently, my account no longer shows that I have the 2 for 1 available, and upon ringing 136789 I was told that it's no longer available to me. Am I missing something here? Has this happened to anyone else?

Well I just got good value from my $99 yearly fee (apart from the 200SCs and 50K points I already received). Just booked two flights for $132, rather than $132 each, saving myself $43 more than the yearly fee :)

It was a bit of a long winded process, but I got the current saver rate without having to ask. I wonder if I can ring back and try and use my free upgrades on the flights ;) ?

Just booked a saver fare at peak time between SYD-BNE and saved $176. So far would have saved in excess of $300 and still have one flight remaining this year.

Can you book 2 for 1 J fares on this?
Running off to check T&C's as if it's possible then some quite nice little double SC's available to me with family pooling ;)

I booked 2-4-1 fare but had to cancel, received refund voucher and was surprised to see the 2-4-1 appear back in my account without asking. :D

I believe so, Saver, Flexi and Business fares, just not Sale fares.

You can book any fare (except for sale fares) that is currently showing on the website. The guy today asked me if I wanted to book a Saver, Flexi or Business :)

Did he let you put in velocity nos for each passenger?
According to the agent I spoke to she won't do it. I decided to ring back later

No, I was told that it won't accept a second number, and that I should keep the boarding pass and make a retrospective points/SC claim.

Having said that, there is an option on the booking, under My Bookings, to add a velocity no to the second passenger ... just not sure if I'm game to try it...

Thanks for the work around, I just did exactly that and it was a piece of cake  :p

Edit: I then rang up Velocity Plat and upgraded the return legs x2 to J
Makes all those calls to Manila to get the card seem worthwhile :p

Glad it worked, just did it for mine as well :)

Were they Flexis? I'm wondering what chance I'd have in upgrading my saver fares ...

First time I did it using "manage my bookings" and it worked.

Second time I asked to put the second number in there and she responded "oh you can't do that because you are getting 2for1 and it's just points and SCs for me only." I told her it worked last time and i get points (half) and SCs (full) for me and the second pax, as it is actually just half fare when charged for both pax, Not 2for1. So she said "Ok" and put it in there. The booking reads both pax with FF numbers there. I think it was the first 2for1 booking she'd done as she had to initially check with her supervisor what I was entitled to. so my advice is to call back if you get the negative response or manage online.

They were Flexis.
So happy I am thinking of booking another combo for the May MEL trip ( depending on another 737-800 on the same route ;) )

Hi,

This is my first post.

I recently signed up for the Virgin Money Flyer card which comes with the 10,000 FF points. I can see my velocity account is linked when i log into internet banking but I haven't been credited the 10,000 points since I first used the card 10 days ago.

How long did everyone else's points take to get credited to their velocity account?

Cheers,

Dayton

... Points will be credited to the Primary Cardholders Velocity Account up to 60 days after the qualifying purchases.

I'm curious about this too. I have this card but haven't used it yet. Can I book a flexi, have it matched to another flexi and then use my upgrade voucher(s)? That would be *excellent* value on MEL-CNS for example.

Just confirming that you can indeed do this.

Wanted to book a MEL-BNE for myself and SWMBO.

Saver was $174, Flexi $219, Business $799

Paid $219 + the two CC fees, then rang the second number and was able to immediately apply the two upgrades to J :)

So ended up costing $228 for $1600 worth of fares

I'd say the card has well and truly paid for itself now.

Also, just for the record, don't try and get the person on the first call (2 for 1) booking to do the upgrade as part of purchasing the tickets, or you might just end up in a very difficult and uncomfortable conversation about not being able to apply promotions on top of promotions ... not that this happened to me ;)
