Virgin Money credit cards (linked to Velocity rewards)

Was offered fee refund to retain the card when I called to cancel. Declined in the interests of simplicity, credit rating, possible future sign on bonuses with some other Citi card.

Got the same offer of a fee refund, which I took (second year in a row). Will cancel next year (unless they offer me another deal to keep me..). I do use the 2-for-1 deal, but it's not worth $129 if business isn't included. I've had a good run with the card with a mix of saver and business bookings previously, but if it's limited to saver only in the future, I can only see myself paying up to $60/year for this feature.

Has anyone ever tried to pay their balance at AusPost? Do you really need a deposit slip or will the barcode just work at self-serve?

I haven't tried, but that barcode doesn't look like a Bank@Post one which I think it needs to be to pay at Self-Serve. Try it and let us know :)

I got the fee waiver offer too. I fly saver so it's worth it. Can cancel card after I've used the 2 for 1s

Sorry for being so lazy but I've been searching various threads for about 20mins.
Question: Is Virgin High Flyer good for ATO?

It's a citi re-badged card, so I would imagine not. If you want to test it out, put a small payment through just before the end of your statement period. Then you will know one way or another...

Thanks for that. Not game to try, having been burnt by Citi for ATO. Does anyone know for certain?

I got a double points offer for my Flyer card - probably because I haven't used it since they changed the 2 for 1 offer.
Key points:
Till end Aug
Capped at 20k
Follows "normal" points award rate so 2pp$ to $1500, and 1pp$ after that for the Flyer card.

I just applied.

Likely should have done some more research here and went with another company.

If I cancel the card in 3 months, will my credit rating go down?

Thanks all.

you'll have a useless inquiry on your file, which is what most lenders care about, yes.

Not sure what a "useless inquiry" is. I'll have to look it up.

Also, how long does it take to actually get the points into my Velocity account?

Is it once a month, or after each spend? Thanks.

I just called up to cancel my Virgin Flyer card as I don't really use it and they billed me the annual fee.
5 minutes later I'm agreeing to keep it for another year with no annual fee  (I was genuinely calling to cancel the card not have the fee reversed)
Putting a note in my calendar for Jan next year to make the same call

I did exactly the same last week. They credited the annual fee, which I must remember to spend prior to cancelling it (again) and I've set my reminder for September 2015.

Check your "offers" in Internet banking. You may have a 0% 12 month balance transfer.
