Credit Card Offers Virgin Money Velocity Flyer Offers & Discussion

Thanks for this info. I also had tried using Chrome and Safari with no success. Have just downloaded Firefox and after resubmitting the request got the acknowledgment message.
It really shouldn't be so hard though ... sigh....
Despite getting the acknowledgment message on submitting the request I have heard nothing further about this. No email, no travel credit. It has been 18 days since I submitted.
I will have to phone them tomorrow to follow up.

I'm on the same boat. A few weeks ago I called them and they did the application for me. Still have not heard back. Wonder if it's better to raise a complaint.

Ah... that's interesting. I thought you would have received your credit as they had submitted the application. It really shouldn't be this hard 🤷‍♂️

Well, they submitted the application for me through the same part of the Virgin Money website everyone uses to apply for the travel credit. They did it for me because I complaint to them that I could not even even get to the acknowledgement page.

This is just ridiculous, will make me think twice about applying for a Virgin Money product in the future.

Saved having to make a phone cal. Email with travel credit details landed this morning. Not exactly a quick response, but at least I don’t have to follow up. @xabialonso hopefully you’re credit arrives today as well.

I cancelled my Velocity Flyer card in early August, considering going for the High Flyer card later this month... I know there isn't a specific cool down period listed for these cards but I suspect they'd happily decline me given I churned their other card just a few months ago.

Has anyone done both cards close together? I already hold Citi Ready Credit and NAB Signature card, that could also be used against me

Risk you run with Citi is if you are rejected on any of their cards you can't apply for an additional one within a 3 month period (Citi and cards issued under Citi like Virgin). I've applied a week after closing an account and been fine..but also rejected for a Citi premier whilst holding a prestige

What does Virgin Money consider a 'month'?
If I am to apply today, will I have 30 days to make the required spending or are we talking calendar month ie. 10 days to get the card before the end of the month + spend?

Just want to double-check before I apply and get a mark on my credit report.

Other people in this thread have had concerns about this. Looks like Virgin Money will often first issue a statement that ends on your join date, and then they begin your statement period on your join date.
Some people "missed" their first month but had points retrospectively added after calling them.

They would not pay me my points for one of the months as I did all the spending on the 1st of the month but their "month" was in fact from the statement date which started on the the 2nd or 3rd of the month.

It took a threat of a complaint to AFCA to get them to pay the points....

I see this card now offers 40k points x 2 (spending $3500/ mth for each of the two months) plus a 30k points bonus.

Interestingly, there’s no mention of not being allowed to own a similar card within 12 or 18 months like many other bonus-sign-up cards require. Does this mean you can apply again immediately after cancelling a card?

OzBargain reports that as soon as the card is closed, you can re-apply.
YMMV + Citi rejects often holders of recent Citi products.

Yes. This is a feature of Citibank issued cards.

I was just approved for the High Flyer card after closing the regular Flyer card 6 months ago. I assume I'm still eligible for the bonus as their T&Cs don't specify any cool-down period.

I also just closed the Citi Ready Credit card last week, and I currently hold a NAB card. I was half expecting to be declined knowing Citi procedures.

Correct. Citi may, however, decide that you are applying for a new card 'too quickly'. I haven't experienced this issue, but I am aware that others have.

Citi and NAB systems don't appear to 'talk' to each other - at least not yet.

I applied for the Virgin Flyer within about 6 weeks of an NAB card and got knocked back seemingly automatically (no calls). Asked for a reassessment and it was approved. Assume the first issue was the application fairly soon after the first (not sure if that’s two NAB enquiries or two enquiries in general that did it though)

Can anyone confirm if Sniip payments count towards bonus spend for this card? Thinking of making super contributions to meet $1,500 spend.

Yeah they’re fine. Haven’t crossed a card that has an issue with them yet. PayPal via Post Bill Pay was working for a while, but apparently it is now shown as “government” by PayPal.
