Virgin Slow with points

Slow with points?........don't get me started with crediting of flights operated by Etihad!!!

Despite retro claims, I'm still waiting for VA flights operated by EY taken on Oct 31/Nov 1 from LHR-AUH-SYD to be credited to my account!!

Well, after many calls to VFF to complain about my points not being credited, I noticed this evening the points were in my account and were correct in line with the triple points bonus. The VA flights also correctly credited as "eligible sectors" so now I have managed to re-qualify for Platinum.

All's good until my next VA/EY codeshare flights next year which by then I sincerely hope things have been sorted out.

I booked a Europcar through VA's Cartrawler for 3+ weeks in the USA in and out of LAX through late October - November.

The Cartrawler docs directed me to their LAX Advantage Rent A Car. On return to Aus I waited for the points for the Europcar to turn up in my account but ...

Sent in a claim using my Cartrawler/Europcar booking then yesterday (?!) received a note from VA that required an invoice. Duly sent Advantage invoice & original Cartrawler booking (w/ advice to go to Advantage).

I usually use Hertz but for some reason common-sense abandoned me this time. Advantage definitely not up to Hertz standards.

Anyone else had a similar experience using Europcar/Cartrawler bookings via LAX?

Happy new year all.

I am still going with trying to get the points and SCs from October 27th Abu-Melbourne. Private messages, 10 phone calls at least. Sigh

Over the Xmas break did Melbourne-Brisbane-LA-Atlanta-Miami and the same again in reverse. The SCs came in but no points except on 2 legs??.

The BNE-LA leg was Premium so I am looking for some good points to use up on the kids and a theme parks run to OOL.

3 phone calls and no action. They seem to contradict each other when I call and promise it will be fixed by days end. The latest is that because I booked direct with Virgin/Velocity holidays I am not eligible for any points. Had I known that (it can not be true can it?) I would have booked through any other travel agent in the world and received the points. It has been very unsatisfying. I fly 100+ times a year I would assume I have some value to Virgin but I am finding it hard to feel that at the moment.

I've never had to go through this thank goodness, the level of interaction above is well past my personal tolerance level. Do VA give a ticket or case number? I've had thought this case is well past hitting the bar required for escalation through to a more senior team or manager. Is there any way for the Plat team to take this problem on board and fight-the-powers-that-be on your behalf?

Sadly there are no case numbers so the story has to be repeated. All the team are lovely polite and helpful but there seems to be no resolution. There have been escalations and they always acknowledge my status and apologise for the situation.

It it is like dealing with Telstra. But I really enjoy the Virgin experience of flights, flight crew, lounges and lounge Angels. Been with them for years and this is the first major problem with service.

I started flying exclusively with Virgin in May of 2015 I have earned around 1500 status credits in that brief time and have given my loyalty to the brand going from red to silver to gold and now Platinum . Over Xmas I had flights which were booked via Virgin/Velocity holidays (loyalty once again).

I have just been informed that I will not get any points for any of the 8 flights I took and as my wife passes her points to me 2 of these flights were premium economy (the BNE to LAX) I will however get 6 points per dollar spent on the flights via Virgin/Velocity travel. Meanwhile It took from October 27th 2015 to get points from my Paris trip till today the 11 of January 2016.

If I had purchased this package via Flight Center or any other travel agent I would have received full points and a heck of a lot more than 6 per dollar. It seems that my loyalty has kicked me in the guts here. I will not make this mistake again and I may look at boosting my Qantas to gold and keeping it there and letting Velocity fall to Gold as well.

Yikes! Based upon this I just had a quick snoop at the T&C:

Its dire.

You basically get the 3 points / $ + bonus/$ (for you at Plat thats another 3 pts/$ ... 6 in total/$)

and thats it! nothing else, and, as you point out, nothing for your wife travelling with you either.

SC's are earned though (apparently), though I doubt you really need many more of those.

I can imagine how you feel - but I don't know that other airlines packaged holidays are any better. I've never even looked at VA's offering after having a squiz at the t&c of QF's deal many many many years ago. I now sort of assume its going to be a cough deal and don't even bother. Its not the airlines core competency, is going to be a separate business - I'd have to check to be sure, but I'm betting its a completely different company that just licences the 'VA' name as part of its branding.

You'd imagine a tight tie-in and generous bonuses given it 'appears' to be all in house and to give loyal customers some incentive, I suspect however that the reality is completely different, and that as a separate business there isn't a lot of love between the various divisions ... purely business ... which is translating into an ordinary outcome for a customer who rightly, given the livery on the front door, is expecting something different.

Hey friends

Is anyone else still having issues with slow credit of domestic flights?

I flew HBA-MEL on 12 Jan and was credited on the 15th (so a little longer than it should have taken)

But the return flight MEL-HBA on 14 Jan is yet to be credited, 6 days later.

Not sure if I should be following up on it yet!

Hi Rhiannon,

yes im in the same boat, roughly same dates and 2nd flight not credited. I tried the missing points claim but it said flight already submitted so presumably it's in the system already. Can't remember if it said 7 or 14 days to wait. I'm sure it will show up.......eventually!

Had a flight on the 9th that hasn't credited. I'm going to wait 14 days, I still have the boarding pass too. Annoying though

Generally I don't have an issue with points crediting fairly quickly. (have only had to chase points once and that was many years ago) I just checked with the daughter who went down to Melbourne on Sunday. Her points hit her account today.

Yup, flights from 14 Jan still haven't credited, and other flights around that time all took 3 days.

December points and SC's didn't credit on one of my flights. I did a missing points claim and it got rectified next day (after I waited the obligatory 14 days).

Jnr still has retro claims made on the 26th November for flights on HA in August & Oct 2015 that are still "Awaiting Response". Pfft….

Domestic flight with Air NZ (which was booked via VA) on 12 January hasn't credited yet but I expect non-VA airlines to take longer. Or will I not get anything?

Still nothing as we approach 14 days tomorrow for AKL-NSN.

I had the pleasure of doing 3 of them today. One for Virgin flight, one from hertz and the las one for thrifty.
i have never once got points from thrifty without a missing points claim (I would estimate 10 occasions). This is the first I have had to do from Hertz.

I probably have missed out on all my Thrifty points then. I just assumed... must check. Too late now though I guess.
