It is here: Refund Claim Form due to Volcanic Eruption in Chile

Opportunities for reimbursement should be discussed with your insurance company.

A number of flights have been cancelled or rerouted to avoid the volcanic ash cloud above Chile. Please use this form to claim for accommodation, meals and transfer expenses. Do not use this form for flight refunds. Please see the following FAQs for information on flight refunds.

To be eligible for reimbursement, you must:

Be a Qantas customer holding a valid Qantas (081) tickets for a flight that has been disrupted by volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt Puyehue Cordon Caulle volcano in Chile; and
Hold a valid receipt for accommodation, meals and transfers.

Qantas is offering to reimburse affected customers for their expenses due to the volcanic ash disruption up to the following amounts#:

$250 for accommodation per night.(in respect of the room rate only)^
$20 for breakfast per day.
$25 for lunch per day.
$35 for dinner per night.

Excellent news! Thank you Qantas. This hopefuly will cover my extra days stranded in Wellington.

PPRuNe has a thread about 4 Virgin aircraft being grounded for boroscope inspection due to suspected ash damage.
Possibly an urban myth but I wouldn't want to be in Virgins shoes if it turns out to be true and damage is found.
Cheers

Why, they did not fly in the forecast ash cloud zones so why would they be at fault, the chances of getting damage outside those areas was the same for all operations on any day!

That may be true but can you imagine what QF would do with that sort of news, sort of "We told you so" could be a PR nightmare.

Oh Dear... This could turn out very bad for Virgin if it's true. Do you have the link to this Nigelinoz ?

Flew DJ SYD-ADL return over the weekend and did not hear any comments from Captains about any Ash Cloud issue. Hopefully there are no cover up on this.

$80 for food per day

I did a travel insurance claim in 2009 and felt guilty about claiming $50 for 2 days for 2 people! Now that's fine dining ;)

For what it's worth, Jetstar paid for a $189 room at tullamarine, $10 for breakfast (cheapest breakfast at hotel was $19) and dinner (don't know of cost).

Well, the cheapest "Reasonable Amounts" from the ATO for travel expenses in Australia is Breakfast: $23.10, Lunch: $25.90, Dinner: $44.50

Interesting experience just now trying to use the credit from my cancelled flight last week. Credit is about $110, cheapest fare on the website for my selected day is $228. Was told it would cost me $220.xx to buy on that day. I thought that was a bit excessive, stupidly I didn't ask for details or if that was the full cost not including the credit. First time I've been in this sort of situation. Looks like I'm going to have an interesting time on this one.

As you were.
Visible concentrations of volcanic ash from the Chilean Mt Puyehue eruption are predicted to enter airspace over Adelaide early tomorrow morning and then track across SE Australia north of Melbourne and just south of Sydney and in the vicinity of Canberra, posing a risk to flights until sometime tomorrow night.
While there have been no operational updates from the airlines as yet, the head of the BoM Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre in Darwin, Dr Andrew Tupper, said laser sounding or LIDAR readings from a satellite showed that the layers of ash are concentrated right across the normal range of jet airliner cruising altitudes of between 8000-13,000 metres with a lower limit of around 6000 metres.

DJ have cancelled all services to ADL and Mildura:

The Volcanic Ash Cloud is back! Apologies, but we will be suspending all services into and out of ADELAIDE and MILDURA for Tuesday 21st June 2011 due to the advice from the Bureau of Meteorology and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre. If you have a flight tomorrow that isn't to those two destinations then you will be able to travel as per normal. If you do have flights, we will keep you updated throughout tomorrow.

Normally that would make sense, however no word from QF and given they erred on the side of caution before when the likes of DJ kept flying.
