I'm confirmed for this event. No flights needed for me as I'm Wellington based, looking forward to the dinner at Jano and pre dinner drinks at Chateau Wong :-)

mickeyc747 can be added to the Platinum list; he will be on the same flights as us to WLG (and the four of us are departing via the SYD F lounge if anyone else should like to join us).

Ok Platinum flights booked;
BNE-WLG on VA Saturday arrives 3;15pm, yes I miss the First lounge but oh well.
WLG-AKL-SYD-BNE on NZ/NZ/VA Sunday, got my 789.

I might be able to make an exception just this once......

I have met our good friend Jeff in a few places around the world, but never in Wellington, (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Napier, Blenheim, Prague, Canberra, Gold Coast) so it will be good to meet him in his home city.

As to the drinking part well first time I met Jeff was in Brisbane and he needed some assistance to some beers he had just purchased, it may have been some tiger beer.

Good to hear :)

Hi
I think I am gold? I am still trying to learn the AFF lingo.
I am trying to sort out flights and hotel. I will not be able to make it to the lounge in Sydney.
Thanks

Yup, that would be gold. And you can upgrade to platinum when you do book flights :)

Yeah but at least you get the nonstop on the way out.

Plus, five flights just to get to NZ from Australia and back sounds a bit harsh :D.

Hope you enjoy the 789, it is a good ride (up front anyway, can't speak for economy from personal experience).

Are you reminded me I need to ring VA to get the Air NZ booking reference so I can select a seat.

I have received the following reply from Jano after my recent correspondence:

Thank you for your email and Happy New Year! We are able to accommodate 12 guests for your booking at this stage, however due to the size and layout of our restaurant, we will require that you book our function room for the evening. You and your guests will have the space and privacy of our function room, and it will secure enough seating for extra people who may decide to join your group as the date nears. This will also avoid any problems regarding noise for our other diners.

The minimum spend for the function room is $1800 as per our earlier conversation, however the price for the Degustation Menu has changed to $105pp ($160pp including Wine Match). If the majority of your guests decide to have the Wine-Match option, it will be no problem for your group to reach the minimum spend.

Our Degustation Menu is based off our A-La-Carte menu, which changes regularly due to our philosophy on using fresh, seasonal produce and the Chef's creativity. Therefore, it is difficult for us to tell you exactly what the menu will contain until closer to the date, however rest-assured that it will be no problem for us to cater to your dietary requirements on the evening ;-)

The function room is currently available for Saturday 19th March - however we will require a 50% deposit to secure your booking. I hope all the above sound good to you, please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions and if you would like us to send you our bank account details to make the deposit.
So the pressure is on! Please indicate pronto if you can make it. We need 12 diners (with wine) to meet the $1800 spend.

I have asked how many they could cater for if we just dined a la carte in the main area.

I can definitely make it but it looks tight for numbers. Could even pick the four of you up from the airport on the friday presuming no delays at work (but my car is small.. an A1)

Jeff

I will arrive on NZ469 from AKL at 22:05 on Fri 18/3. Potentially have another diner (but unsure) if there is room.

Well should they be worried about AFFers noise affecting other diners...

Isn't there like 5 people going?

Private room seems a bit over the top?
