Wendouree allocations and general discussion

Who knows how this raffle works in Clare, they probably grouped all the non-signature NSW into one bundle then sort it by the surname in alphabetic order.

I'm Green Crayon and in Tasmania . My first order (single six pack) was in 2020 which I recall was the first year after I had sent in the initial letter requesting to be on the list. Since then, I haven't received any allocation. My theory has always been to request six of everything, just incase some of the varieties had sold out with the view to secure as many of the leftovers as possible. This year I was hopeful for something due to the higher yield. I'm pretty ecstatic to have just had $2800 go out of the bank to Wendouree. That would be six of everything excluding the 24B which we understand has sold out. Dare I say it, there seems to be some kind of sorcery focused around Green Crayon this year......... Good luck to everyone.

Just a snippet while we patiently wait! Some notes on the 2022 vintage

The 2022 vintage in Clare Valley showcased consistently high quality across red and white varieties, accompanied by strong yields. Cool and dry weather during summer and early autumn provided ideal ripening conditions, resulting in fruit with excellent natural acidity and full varietal flavours. Winemakers are particularly excited about the exceptional quality of Riesling, coinciding with the region’s celebration of the 21st anniversary of the screw cap closure, pioneered in Clare Valley. Red varieties, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, also displayed a remarkable combination of quality and yield not seen in recent years.

The season began with a dry and cool autumn, followed by good winter rains and above-average spring rainfall, ensuring sufficient soil moisture during the growing season. While a cool spring and summer caused a delayed start to the vintage, it allowed for optimal flavour ripeness before harvesting, avoiding capacity constraints. Some isolated frost damage and poor fruit set occurred, but the region was fortunate to escape fire and hail damage. :Credit Clare valley/Skillogalee wines

Now off to work and this afternoon I will check out our cellars and pick a nice Wendouree out for my catch up with my Clare family here in WA..

So there is hope and we all the way over here see a wine or two heading across soon. And seeing the yields were of excellent quality and volume, fingers crossed the gang are sifting there way through the orders with plenty for everyone. 😁🥂🤙🏻

Thanks for that. I wonder if anyone can share TWF tasting notes for the Wendouree 2022 vintage that were apparently published?

According to another forum, they only keep the form for 12 months. So, how do they work out who will move up the ranks or are we pretty much stuck at our crayon colour forever?

They may have a set quantity per colour. As some drop off others move up?

I don’t think people move up or down. My guess is that it’s to determine roughly what era you signed up. Pre 1990: initials
1990-2005: black crayon
2005-2018: red crayon
2018 onwards: green crcrayon
This is definitely not correct.

You have also missed 'no marking'.
