Re: Westpac Altitude 50,000 QFF points ($150 annual fee - waived for existing custome

Signed up for Choice savings account, approved, then signed up for Altitude Black (Qantas). Got instant conditional approval, handed in 2 payslips (branch near work is always quiet, and near good lunch spots). All approved, and cards in the mail.

Will be a good replacement for ANZ Black - was getting close to annual fee time for those!

All in all, not too difficult. Looking forward to spending the signup bonus..

How long did it take from when you submitted pay slips.

I submitted mine on Thursday (conditionally approved Wednesday) and despite earning almost twice the minimum income, they're insisting on proof of income from rental properties which will take a few days to track down. Spoke to the Phils-based help line but the automatons there refuse to veer from script. It's reminding me of the joys of dealing with Citibank. Not off to a good start.

I applied on Sunday, handed payslips in on Tuesday (Monday was a public holiday here on the west coast), and was approved on Thurs. Straightforward submission though- no rental properties or the like.

My card arrived yesterday, for those who are wondering about timing.

Thanks Crocs. After exchanging numerous serves with the Manila call centre for nearly a week I finally got westpac to ignore my supplementary income claim and assess my application based on my salary alone. Got approved within hours - in which case, why did they insist on rental property evidence? Perhaps best not to ask...

Looking fw to 50,000 QF points and $0 in the first year. Will cancel immediately after pocketing the stash.

Same experience for Mrs Shik - going on and on about dividend statement evidence and then ended up removing it from the application and got approved right away.

Minimum spend met for both me and the Mrs, now we wait and see.

Re: Westpac Altitude 50,000 QFF points ($150 annual fee - waived for existing custome

Just received these 50K bonus points into my QFF account! Got the card beginning of August, met min spend in first statement period and bonus points reflected on the 2nd statement!

Re: Westpac Altitude 50,000 QFF points ($150 annual fee - waived for existing custome

I had several 'left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing' moments & it was starting to feel like Citibank.
I'm near three Westpac branches, each have several tellers, but no guarantees of staff after that. All had empty enquiry desks. And most had empty CSO offices. I'm guessing they could share the CSO's between the branches, based on appointments? However, the service differences between Westpac and my regular StGeorge branch was very noticeable, given they are all owned by the same company (hmmm QF & JQ comes to mind).
Cards arrived today, so with the minimum spend this week, might see points by end of next month?

Don't hold your breath. I got my cards in August and had made minimum spend by my first statement in early September. I just got my second statement and still no bonus points. Damn.

Re: Westpac Altitude 50,000 QFF points ($150 annual fee - waived for existing custome

Looks like the offer has been extended to 30 January 2017 on the Altitude Platinum and Altitude Black cards.

Re: Westpac Altitude 50,000 QFF points ($150 annual fee - waived for existing custome

Minimum spend met on 21 Sep, points posted today.

For Mrs card, spend met on 26 Sep, no points this cycle - hoping for next statement.

Are either of you existing Westpac credit card holders?

Re: Westpac Altitude 50,000 QFF points ($150 annual fee - waived for existing custome

I have an existing credit card with them, Earth Black so was a bit worried they would not give me the points.

Mrs has never had a cc with them previously.

So you got points even with the Earth? They told me it would count as existing card so I hadnt bothered...

Correct, have had an earth card for a few years now and still have it. I read the T&C before applying and it mentions every card that does not qualify and the Earth is not mentioned at all. Took a chance and was'nt 100% sure I would get them without a lot of calls but they came through very fast.

Surprised and happy.

Hmmm interesting. They were adamant I wasn't eligible

Does anyone know if the offer is still valid for altitude cards? I got mine in the mail a couple of weeks back - register through the links when the offer was still up on the website.

However I am yet to activate my cards and do any spending. Have I missed the boat on these ones?

you should be eligible, as the fineprint says "when you apply between ... and 11th October" (now has been extended until January 2017). But if you're still in doubt just call and double check before activation.

IMO once you've got the cards in your hands, it does not make sense not to activate. The damage to credit file is done and even if you miss the boat with points (you didn't), you could still use the balance transfer and purchase rate promos and fight for points later.

I agree for the most part. Where it might be sensible to pull out is if the bank has a history of imposing conditions on bonus offers where you can't have had a card in the last 12-months to be eligible (ANZ springs to mind). In such a case you might be better off to keep your powder dry for the inevitable next offer. It's almost always a matter of months.
