Card Offers Westpac Altitude Black offers: 120,000 Qantas or Velocity Points (expires 30/4/25)

Does the Mastercard earn points for ATO spend? I'd be surprised.

No - but if you're finding it hard to spend $3k to get an 80k point sign up bonus worth $1000+ in flights, spending ~$15 on fees to trigger that isn't necessarily the biggest hardship. Obviously better to spend it on groceries or gift cards or whatever but you may value your time more.

Westpac advised me specifically that ATO and government spend does not count towards the minimum spend requirement for bonus points.

This was my second AMEX signed up for in the last 6 months. Pleased to say that both have now received their sign on bonus. Wan't 100% sure when I applied for these cards that that would be the case and would have been more than happy for the 80K Mastercard bonus especially considering this being fee free for the first year

Credit enquiries for both? I applied last night and was conditionally approved, submitted my payslips and now just awaiting confirmation - thinking about giving them a bell this afternoon as it is the 5th tomorrow - but considering it has been less then 24hrs seems a bit pushy on my behalf.

Nothing on Credit Savvy (Experion) and score unchanged however through GetCreditScore (Equifax) my score has gone down. Unfortunately, with the free query, I cannot see what credit enquiries have been made though clearly there has been a hit

Was that specific advice for the MC? My understanding is that the Amex earns nothing/isn't eliglble spend, but the MC is.
I didn't save the conversation but I have a feeling it would have been with relation to the mastercard. It seems that amex would process all bonus points etc for the companion card; the 40k bonus reminder to spend is showing up in my amex account.

Applied Monday night, credit enquiry on the Westpac Black Mastercard pretty much instant, and Equifax score down from 766 to 620 from that enquiry alone :eek::eek: I think I might need to give it a rest for a few months after this though, 7 churned cards since starting this game 14 months ago has taken my score from 910 to 620 (so worth it though :p:p)

I was conditionally approved pending verification of income, which I uploaded straight away, but then I received a phone call last night with some weird questions about my information in the application. After answering said weird questions, I received an email this morning that both the Westpac & Amex card had been formally approved.

Just scraped into the 5th September deadline!

What were the 'weird' questions?

What were the 'weird' questions?

It was purely them re-asking what I provided in the application, for instance she asked so you earn $xx_ and you pay $xx_ on your mortgage.

I guess the questions weren't weird, but more so I just found it a little weird that they wasted a phone call and rang me just to verbally confirm what I had stated in the application.

I've had that before as well. Not uncommon. My normal response is "I refer you to my written application'.

Fair enough. I just answered, "yes, that's correct" about 5 times and was on the phone for 90 seconds, then she said thanks and I will send this information straight through to the approvals team - I was just thinking, what was the point of that.

Did anyone else have to provide their docs separately for the Amex application after the MC was approved?

Got my cards a few days before the deadline, now loading up some spend.
I paid some council rates via AusPost/PayPal on the AMEX (which I would usually do with the Explorer) and the transaction is no longer pending, but in the AMEX app it's saying 'Altitude Qantas 0' :/

Does it take a few days for points to show up here or has it been classed as ineligible spend? Any other ways to tell?
