You're not alone. I finally received my offer, and it's only a Platinum card and 10,000 Qantas points. Perhaps I'm on their deadbeat list; I only used the card enough to trigger the extra 80,000 Qantas points, then stuck it in a drawer whilst waiting to see what the Amex offer was going to be.

I also got Platinum card offer and 20,00 Altitude points. I have a Black MC/Amex combo with $62,000 credit limit.

All quite weird

That cant be me though, I use both my Amex and mastercard as much as i possibly can. And spend between 3 - 10k per month on them and up to 45k once.. Thats per month, surely i have spent enough...

Hmm, so I am sorry, I have never had a Amex direct issued card before and i see so many types of deals and points bonuses as well as different types of amex cards.

Also i notice people say something about once you get a amex card with bonus points, you wont be able to access another bonus points deal for 18 months after cancelling your previous amex card? Is that right?

So if i take up the amex rewards card that westpac are now pushing, does that mean if i want to get another amex deal, i wont be able to get the bonus points.

Also what are the best amex deals going around at the moment? I probably dont need a specific Qantas card as i dont really fly Qantas that much and prefer using priority pass lounges as i travel more overseas than i do interstate. Or is there another thread i should go and ask these questions on?

The Westpac Amex offer wasn't a good deal for me so I applied for another Amex card with many more bonus points (as holding a bank issued Amex doesn't prevent you from eligibility for bonus points.

I strongly suggest a visit to the Amex website to see what other offers they currently have. They have cards which earn amex rewards (their own points system which can be used to purchase points from other programs or book flights via their travel app), Qantas and Velocity (Virgin) points.

thanks for the tips, thats what i was thinking. Such a shame as i have 1.4 million points on my altitude rewards at the moment, so feels sucky that i need to start a new points system. I know i can still use it with my black mastercard. But no more Amex points :(.

Seems so complicated this whole amex cards systems. People seem to be talking about referral bonus points as well as linking 2 amex cards together to get the better points package etc. Whats the best thread on this site to go to on things like best amex card / points deals etc?

That looks to be the case and it's the main reason why I wont be accepting the Westpac offer.

I called on Monday wondering why I hadn't received an offer, they told me there were technical issues but that the offer would be sent out in the post. Just now I noticed the offer on the app and it's very disappointing! Not impressed, as my WBC Altitude Black cards are heavily used, so dropping me to Platinum with 10k bonus for the new Amex is rather pathetic. Not sure I can be bothered calling up again and challenging the offer presented - will ignore it and cancel the WBC Black cards when the annual fee is due next month.

I think you guys need to stop taking this so personally, I got a cough offer too but really not that big a deal to me, plenty of other fish in this sea. And in twelve months or so Westpac will have the privilege of paying yet another sign on bonus. This sounds way more attractive to me than a mediocre card and a 10k bonus and glad Westpac made this so obvious.

Sorry if this has been asked already, if this is an American Express branded card will it work on Apple Pay?

Someone said we can still apply for the black card even if we were offered the platinum? Is that right and will we then get the 30k points if we spend 3k in 3 months?

Pretty poor form for Westpac loyal customers.......
Was holding off my Next Amex card to see offer but this is a joke...WESTPAC......

St George or Bank Of Melbourne have a good deal for you at the moment Plant.

I have been speaking to Westpac as I know that I have no chance of getting through a new cc application.

As compensation they offered me 50% extra points earn for 6 months on the Mastercard (big deal). Wouldn't budge on fee. I keep all of the other benefits.

For the Priority Pass, as it's linked to the current Amex, you have to sign up again using your Mastercard number.
Guess what? The link to sign up isn't working even though it was supposed to be from today:
https://www.prioritypass.com/altitudeblack

Update: Westpac now tell me that there's a problem with the link (really?) and that it "might" be ok tomorrow afternoon and, if not, try again on Monday (5th Feb)

Still not working as of this evening
