I did get bonus points as my offer but on the letter when my cards arrived, there was no mention of the bonus points either. I hope i still get the bonus points as i made purchases purely for the points otherwise would probably have not purchased them and waited till later to make those purchases.

My offer was for an Altitude Black card with 40,000 Altitude points (not FF points). I've taken a screenshot just in case.

Maybe the welcome letter with the cards don’t ever mention the bonus points. It’s only the initial offer that mentions them?

Rang up and cancelled today. She checked my balance, nil, and said it would take 2-3 days to be removed from my on line banking profile.

I think they're getting lots of cancellations at the moment and are just processing them as quickly as possible.

I called to cancel my Plat card and they offered me one year free, no I said, there is no reason to keep this card, she advised me to keep for travel insurance, I told her I got the CBA card with trancel insurance and no conditions to activate. Finally, she gave up and cancelled my card as requested

Definitely I think they are getting a lot of cancellations, less obvious to me is where people are taking their business?

Hi everyone, I am a rare writer, however I enjoy reading the many posts of various subjects posted.
Be patient with me! As with many, I am a Westpac Krisflyer branded Platinum CC holder and know that they are dumping the AMEX card, retaining the VISA card in April.

I find it hard to justify a $250 annual fee for just the Visa card and the ability to earn points as a result.

I am seriously thinking of dumping it all together, in preference to find a CC with similar annual fee and points earning ability. Being a Velocity and Qantas FF is leading me to looking that direction (transfer current KF points into Velocity).
So.....question??? Is there somewhere in particular I should be looking....other than just Google search? Just need a bit of guidance I feel.

I do feel if you qualify go grab the ANZ black, get the bonus and see how things fall over the next few months

Have a look at the Amex Explorer card, and if you like what you see, apply using one of the referral links in the thread:) American Express Explorer Card - 100,000 points (apply by 11-Apr-2018)

Current deals are discussed here:

Current Credit Card Promotions
Sure they are but that deals with individual cards without comparison. Its been a while since we have had a "what's the best card for ..." thread. I do realise in your case your interest is the sign-on bonuses rather than the ongoing spend but am sure some want advice on what's best for the latter.

I use explorer for everyday expenses. Can’t go wrong with 2pts p/$ on everything and $400 travel credit means the card literally pays for itself. It’s recommended to link it to another Ascent rewards card or use SPG to improve airline transfers.

Thanks. I have the edge (and an unused Velocity card), have held off on the explorer as I wont get the bonus points but am starting to think I should get this card anyway. Since my wife has the edge also thinking maybe cancel one of our cards, get a supplementary, serve out the notice period then get the Explorer.

Anyone managed to get the annual fee waived for the new Amex card?
I know the offer is fee free for the first year, but my current Altitude card has no annual fee (a special offer some time back).
I rang the Westpac number & they said the new card is an Amex product so I need to call them. When I rang Amex they said I would need to call Westpac to see if they could do this.
And so the circle continues......

Logged into my Altitude Black to check direct debits that I need to change before 4th and found message dated yesterday offering the new Amex. Bit late!

Yes mhen I think my years with Westpac CCs are almost over if you don’t count the St George Amplify CC.

Hi cove, yes you have certainly had a good run with them.
I have until end April to decide whether to take up the amex offer. My new St George signature card arrived yesterday so I need to meet initial spend on that first. Still trying to decide whether to keep the Westpac MasterCard. If I don't I have to transfer out the 1.4m Altitude points which I'd rather not do until I have a specific redemption in mind. Ill health in the family and small grandchildren (another due in May) make long trips difficult to plan. Back to the drawing board on best CC strategy.

mhen I am enjoying Amplify warehousing of points. I hope you enjoy this one.
Amplify is working great as we value Kris miles highly based on flight availability. I am about to use the Westpac CC for the fiscal fiend before it is too late. It is so much we might feel impecunious but I will be gruntled by the results.
