Look out for your new uncapped Altitude Black card(s) - available to you for the same fee arrangement as your current Altitude card(s). Your exclusive invitation to Westpac Altitude Black World MasterCard®and Westpac Altitude Black American Express Card® will arrive by mail before these changes take effect.

If this is the case then I think its a no brainer for me to swap.

looks like they are encouraging people to purchase from overseas?????

Altitude Black World MasterCard - 1.25 points at any Australian merchants or 3 points at any Overseas merchants

Yes have you seen the charges they make? Very lucrative (for them, not us).

I spoke to our banker about receiving the caps letter and no invite on that letter - and he said that the mail out of invites begins in the 2nd week of April (so assume Monday week)..............

Probably get an invite with the next statement.

After a break of several months I am back using Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer Amex to run up Kris Flyer points on our two cards.

It is interesting that Westpac have removed the Platinum Plus Altitude and Earth cards from their Website and portfolio of credit cards. IMHO, Westpac HAS to update all existing customers (whether they received the offer or not) to the Black Altitude and Earth cards for the existing annual fee, otherwise they have really stuffed up from a marketing and PR point of view...I'm still awaiting my bank manager's response as to whether I can switch my cards to the Black cards for the same existing fee, having not received a written offer for either of my cards!
Well my bank manager's response was less than satisfactory so I rang the Black number: 1300134929. The operator confirmed that I didn't get an invite for the black card (organised by marketing) but he was happy to issue an invite for both the Altitude and Earth Black cards to me at the existing fee....shall wait and see what happens now. So if anyone else has not received an invite, ring the above number and ASK!!

I logged into my westpac online backing account and it shows it has transferred over to black altitude. So now just waiting for the cards... Is black the new platinum? :) Do you think Westpac is trying to make it look like the amex cent cards except it's plastic? :)

kpc I have been busy just using the two Kris Flyer Platinum Amex cards and I don't have the Visa cards in my wallets. I don't do half a point a dollar or even 0.625 points per dollar so Westpac won't get that business while Citi and Woolworths have their point or more Visa and MasterCards running. Basically there is no need to panic unless you really need Westpac Black to warehouse points that would/ could expire in 3 years.
Of course someone could be after their travel insurance so I can see that might swing it in their favour.

Hi cove, I don't use either the Visa / MC (they stay in a draw at home) or travel insurance...I use both the the Altitude and Earth Amex cards to earn at 1.5 pts per $1. Depending on whether I need QF, Krisflyer, Enrich or even VA and CX points will determine whether I use the Amex Altitude or Earth cards. Whilst I don't spend as much as you (I wish), I do put a 6 figure sum through each AMEX cards each year so the upcoming cap is a major issue for me. I don't have the (uncapped) Westpac Kris Flyer Platinum Amex cards. unfortunately.

Just applied for Black Altitude as new customer. Approved immediately but need to send in financials.
Visa will stay in drawer.
40,000 bonus only worth 20,000 though, unlike Earth bonus

Which FF program would you likely transfer to?

Also I noticed that one of the bonus partners for westpac altitude is caltex starmart. Does this mean only starmart caltex stations I will get the bonus points? Or will it also apply to those woolworths caltex branded petrol stations? Anyone know?

Thanks ozmark. My local caltex is on that list so all good :)

But I think it works out to be a total of 4 Altitude points per $ at caltex, so 2 miles for SQ,MH,CX,VA. So works out to be the same per $ using my plat edge.. so no gain for me I suppose in using either one.
