Is there anyway of working out what was AMEX and Visa etc, or do you have to wait for your statement to come through, which well tell you and then export it and do the calculations?

I just exported into excel and its gives me the files but it doesnt differientiate between Visa and AMEX on the csv file from what I can see...

I am sure that file used to have another field which differentiated Visa and Amex but I do admit to not seeing it the other night either.

Looks like you have to do a manual selection and recalculate. Maybe just have a column where you tick for Amex. Your formulae could check if that cell is true and if so calculate accordingly.

If you are feeling motivated shoot Westpac some feedback via their form >>https://forms.westpac.com.au/forms/feedback.nsf/feedback?readform&page=feedbackForm?openform and ask for the info to be included.

OK, so got my letter in the mail yesterday but noticed it says 10K points rather than 20K. Not too worried as I have a hard copy brochure of the offer plus have just saved the web page but wondering if anyone else had this.

Have also got my wife to apply so guess I'll see with her letter.

Yeah mine says 10k as well, gonna do the same as you with a screenshot and also see if I can get my hands on a brouchere from somewhere. I am guessing it will be 20k but will wait till I get my first statement.

How long did it take for you guys to get your letter in the mail? Been about 7 working days for me.. just wanting to know as I've got a few big purchases coming up that I would like to put through the card.

Whats weird is that I didnt recieve a confirmation email or anything but it did say once completing the application that you have been approved for $xx_x amount etc etc

It takes about a week.
What is really good about this card is you can put the balance into credit and so you can do large purchases in excess of your credit limit.

Yes that's one of the features I'm after. Did you recieve any confirmation email at all? Suprised me that I didn't recieve anything of the sort. I might give them a call today to find out what the deal is.

I'm about to re-furnish my house so some $$ to be put throug the card!

MRS Cove got hers a few days ago so I ran up enough points for a pointy end flight to Europe in the first couple of days of her card use.
I think renovating gets you way more value than we get paying the fiscal fiend when they keep paying for trash.
Did you see some bright spark signed an open ended $400 million IT upgrade and it is at $900 million and growing without the ATO having a BAS upgrade.
Move over Collins class subs the ATO can beat that one.

Ring Westpac and complain that the annual fee is too high and you are thinking of moving your business elsewhere. They will then refund the fee.
My annual fee came through this month. Rang them earlier this week and it was reduce to $125 after reference to another department.

I'm still pretty happy, just looked at total accruals for year one which has come in just over 1m KF pts.

I wish I could hug those boffins at Qantas who created the Krisflyer opportunity by creating the mandatory points sweep.

Pretty impressive...well done! I would make just over a half mil KF points by end of this month.

I recently joined, and I used my existing SQ number but I think Westpac screwed up and applied for another one for me.

he, he, this thread has become, like, "hey look, mine is bigger than yours"..... I will run half a million points... and me... 3 million...

I must admit that I am a bit surprised that if you are pumping $600K+ thru the card per year that they are not happy to either waive, or refund the year fee completely..

Yes I agree that the fee is modest for the Platinum version of the Westpac Kris Flyer card and for 2 lots of $195 we can now move up to 10 family and friends to pretty much anywhere and any time in J or better.
For those big spenders this is right up there with Amex Ultimate for making points for business class Qantas domestic travel except it is for long haul points on the whole globe.
Our family needed points to get to Los Angeles to get to our new place and Kris has solved it for us because of the ease of redemption.

With this card is business spend allowed on the card, i see in the terms and conditions that it is not allowed. We run a small home based sole-trader business and im wondering if I can put our business spend on this card. I do not want to do the wrong thing if it is permitted so i would appreciate other peoples point of view?

Many Thanks

It may not be allowed, but a lot of people seem to do it anyway and have no issue.

Try it and you will love it!
I love paying BAS monthly now and look forward to the payment date.
How warped have I become looking forward to paying taxes?

For those of you wondering how people are getting 500K KF miles or more, the way to do it is generally by paying tax with the card (in multiples of $10K). I used to pay my BAS this way.
Personally, I have stopped doing it since the 3 miles per dollar deal stopped. The value is not there any more for me.
There is a fee involved and I think that I have enough miles to stop chasing miles by spending more in fees.
Unless the 3 miles per dollar deal comes back, I am happy to go back to a normal spend pattern.

Value as I see it goes like this.
A point costs 0.83 cents less a tax deduction.
A business class fare sub two thousand including all redemption fees and for some could be closer to $1500 depending on the tax deduction value.
The lowest fare on an equivalent carrier is about 3 to 7 times these numbers.
You can pay $50,000 per entry now.

I suppose if you have to buy the ticket anyway the figures make sense.
In my case, I need about 300K miles a year for my wife to come with me J class on a conference. If I have more points than that, I need to go on an extra trip. In other words, I would be paying extra fees for a trip I dont really need.
I guess there are worse things you can do with your time!
