Westpac Singapore KrisFlyer Credit Card

Followed up about only 10K points posting. I was told there is a list of people to receive another 10K points and my name was on it (I received the mail offer for 20K).

It seems there is a delay because of the different offers, they post the first 10K, then if you qualify, you receive a further 10K. Agent apologised and said others were affected. Was told to expect more points during the next statement cycle.

Very disappointed with Westpac, gave them my old Kris Flyer number, and today got a mail from SQ giving me a new membership card.

They totally stuffed it up!

What can I do now? Call SQ to notify them of my old number, or will they merge the two accounts together after discovering they got the same postal address?

Not the only one mate! Give them a buzz and they will sort it out.

SQ knows there's duplicate, so will call/email you to confirm and advise they will be merging the accounts.

When you merge the new card into old SQ account, will Westpac know they need to credit the points there?

So we don't need to contact Westpac again to inform them of the old SQ account number?

Cheers

Yup. Westpac actually only has your original KF number on record. They don't know anything about the new number.

You can always call to confirm.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes sorted all out today, it was SQ who made the mistake and sent out a new membership card.

Westpac always has the original Kris Flyer number.

Will wait until first statement comes and make sure the points are credited to the right account.

Ok this is fantastic, checked my Kris Flyer account today, and found out SQ actually credited me with 20,000 miles. What a surprise, my card was approved on June 15, and still got the extra 10,000 miles.

This month's statement has a nice summary report which breakdown where you've spent (restaurant, hotels, others) your money over the last 12 months.

Ok, is it just me or is availaibility to redeem award flights, no where near as good as it was over a year ago?

When I first jumped ship to SQ over a year ago ( basically as the transfer rate to 1/1, and then the Westapc VISA with an earn rate of 1.0 became available) availibity was easy and generous.

Now doing various dummy bookings to all sorts of destinations it seems to me that availaibity is no where near as good as it was.

Or is it just me?

I suspect that the Westpac KF Card and 1/1 from Amex has really ramped up the number of people chasing redemptions.

PS: I am based out of MEL.

Could be the availability ex-Melbourne that is the issue.

In my experience I'm getting the flights that I want but I have to be flexible with the dates 2-3 either side.

This morning I was able to change a flight into/out of CPT originally on KF redemption booking but with the call centre was able to find flights completing the last leg on SAA. This change s for a flight 4 months away.

On another front I'm working on a redemption for Mrs Albatross to LHR next year May/June. At this stage good availability direct to LHR or via FRA to leverage F Saver.

I use SQ website and ANA Tool for research.

Hope that helps.

Albt.

Thanks for that.

And yes I use those tools, and I monitor flights in part from curiuosity.

I should add that generally for bookings that I want 2J or 4J Savers...and not just the one. So my searches are mainly biased around that. If I was just looking for 1 J Saver the story may be completely different.

As you are probably aware 2J Savers per flight from SIN-Europe is normally the maximum for early bookings. 4 for SIN and nearby ports. I am talking of SQ metal here.

Looking at the max booking time out last year I would pretty easily secure most destinations. Recently these have been going more quickly. So it seems to me that more people are booking.

I have a feeling that I might have to make greater use of *A redemptions via SQ in future.

I would do your requirement in twos and consider other departure cities as the chance multiplier.I have only booked 5 times and no issues so far out of Perth.
The left hand side saver redemptions are not always there but the standard redemptions are still very fair (if you have the points).
It will be interesting when I am trying to move 5 or 6 folks using our 2 accounts and that will be the true test.

so i got my "50% off" voucher with last statement

i was under the impression that i could use it for anything, not just economy

also a bit dissapointed that its only an extra 35% + 15% online discount

im sure that there was no such mentions of these things ... if i had the original flyer i'd have a shot at them

Hi, yes I do and I am aware of that. ie have looked at Adelaide and Sydney both now and back then, though not as much.

However my question is whether people are finding securing redemptions the same, easier or harder?

My experience is that that they are harder to obtain now than they were a year ago.

For example back then I would confidently grab 2 J's on one day and 24 hours later when the next maximum day out window opened grab the next two.....and then confidently wait for my return dates opened up to repeat the return bookings.

Going by my recent testing this is now no where as easy.

What it means is that the economy has improved and they release fewer award seats ........

In terms of the legs to Europe no that is not correct for bookings made at the maximum advance period for J savers, based on my experience. It may be for extra awards released close to flight time, but I am not talking about those.

It was normally 2 then, and is still 2. As noted for some other routes it can be 4.

However with the economy improving it may be that there are more people wanting to redeem now, as well as with the 1/1 transfer meaning that is more attractive for people resident in Oz to push CC points through SQ.

Well look at QF. You can wait for maximum booking time and you still don't get a seat. So technically SQ can just not release any award seats early because they know they can sell these seats, whereas last year it wasn't the case.

What it also means is that if you still have tons of points and award seats are still available, then try to burn it!
